Peoples thoughts on slightly overfilling gearbox

I have a slight noise from my box. I've read overfilling the gearbox can help, what's people's opinions on doing this? Thanks

are you getting a crunching between gears? if so what gears are doing it?

i personally havn't heard of overfilling it (theres usually lots of issues regarding overfilling) although i have heard of using a quality oil and changing linkages if you are getting 'slight noise' from your box

Overfilling will have zero benefit, and will cause more problems in the long term.

Oh ok I'll give it a miss. I just have a slight whine between 30 and 35 mph. Haven't changed for 3,000 miles tho.

over filling it is suggested to take the rattle out of a desel box with a lightweight single mass flywheel. so far my cars been into two garages for major work and neither of them would do what i asked and put an extra 1/2litre of oil in. i dont wanna get covered in oil on the floor trying it myself

Not an issue I did it on purpose, coats the selector better and makes the shift smoother, not an issue what so ever.

I over fill mine by approximately 1/2 a litre and have done so every year for 6 years my box is smoother than any one with a 1.8t I know..

Best way to achieve a higher level is to tilt so the left hand side is higher.
