Performance Mods vs. Insurance Premium

Read some really interesting threads on remapping or chipping to add performance and drivability - whetted my appetite for some upgrades! However, I have a few questions:

  1. Anyone have any idea how much Insurance Premiums will increase if I remap or chip?
  2. How do any upgrades affect the SEAT warranty?
  3. Is it worth waiting a while or can I upgrade on a brand new engine/car?
  4. Should I wait to let everything "bed in"?
  5. Under the bonnet, except for the 6 speed box, is a 1.9 TDi Sport the same as a 1.9 TDi FR, but mapped differently?
So many questions I know - hope someone can answer some of them!!

1: Not an awful lot, £100 - £300 in most cases.

2: If they know its remapped its void on warranty work.

3: You can upgrade on a new car straight away but...

4: ... i'd bed it in for 4 - 5k miles

5: Same engine, different turbo (same power etc just different make), gearbox ratios.

Any more? ;)

Thanks Ad Lav - guess I'll have to start shopping around.

Any ideas for upgrading my TDi Sport (100PS)?

Remap wise or something else??

Custom Code or Revo will both take it to around 130 bhp and 235 lb/ft ish...

Cheers, I'll have a look.
What about handling - seems to stop, go and turn with no suprises, but sure ain't a match for the Mrs' Mini One D for turn in. Ibiza could do with more "bite" it seems

Ive remapped my TDi Sport and im seeing 141bhp and 238lb/ft Torque. Thats with a Revo map, PD160 intake and Green Panel filter.

Its more than enough for me and the car pulls better in every gear.

I waited till i had 6k on the clock before i did it, after listening to the guys on here.

Handling wise, you would be looking at coilovers. I have Eibach, others have FK and Weitec. Also add on spacers at the back and it should handle like its on rails.

Handling go for shocks and springs or coilovers.

Anti roll bars front and rear will help and a strut brace will give better turn in...

As far as number 5. goes.

The 1.9TDi Sport in question is the new facelift 5 speed right, not the old 1.9TDi sport 6 speed!

So, its alot more than just mapped different. As far as a I am aware it does share the same 5 gears ratio's as the older 1.9TDi 6 spd.

But it has a different turbo, injectors, brakes etc etc
