Hey guys, this is my first post after getting my Leon FR+ but sadly its because I've got a bit of a problem and need some advice.

My hose has come off and from what I’ve been reading it seems to be in the 'usual' place near the brake fluid reservoir. Thing is the plastic side of the solid pipe (I think this is the intercooler intake) has snapped where the metal end of the flexi hose pushes in - so I'm going to have to get a new intake pipe.

Hope I'm making sense so far! Now for the question; I've priced up a new one and they want nearly £150 for the solid intake pipe. But I’ve been thinking about eventually upgrading to SFS hoses anyway because of what I’ve read about hoses getting blown off. So would it be worth getting started with that? I was thinking of just changing the broken section for now until I have a bit more cash. Would it be ok doing it like that or should the whole lot be changed at the same time?

If I went for the SFS hoses can someone tell me which parts I'd need?

Also for the option of swapping the oem one does anyone have the part number to hand to see if I can get used one for now (I forgot to get it when I got the price earlier). I've tried to get it off the current pipe but I couldn’t see it properly without taking it out. Something like Z5B 1J0 145 762 BL I think!)

Sorry for the essay.

Thanks
Rich

Ok same as mine, is it the top pipe which comes out of Egr valve and then into a hard plastic pipe in between coolant bottle and timing belt cover or is it the lower pipe behind the front driver side wheel?

Its the top one, large plastic one that runs from between the timing belt cover and coolent bottle, round the back of the dipstick and then down towards the bottom front of the bumber.

Thanks
Richard

I took some photos earlier but can't post them yet. Anyway if I still havn't explained very well - if you look on jonjays readers ride thread at the photo on post 363 its the dark black pipe at the front just above the dipsitck.

Thanks
Rich

Ok, if it's a case of the two pipes still mating together but the snap is where the metal clip holds the two together there is a "quick" fix for this which is what I have done, if it's a case of your pipe being proper fecked only alternative is to buy new/used one.

What I did was to fasten a zip tie (heavy duty) around each end of the 2 pipes and then thread another 2 zip ties through the centre of the first ties in order to pull and keep the two pipes together, I'll try and get a picture up today so you can see what I mean, I say a quick fix but mine has been on for nearly 2 years now lol

lol 2 years! Well I've done something similar but only thought it would be temporary. I've put 2 large jubilee clips over the ends of the pips and put a couple of cable ties round it. I was just abit worried that the jublie clip might start damaging the other pipe. Would still like to see how you've done it though, even if it only lasts a few weeks for me at least it'll give me chance to sort something else out.

O and I managed to get the part number if anyone else needes it - zsb 1jo 145 762 bl

Thats simular to how I've done it but with 2 jubilee clips round the pipes - hopefully it'll hold!

Thanks again for your help
