As far as induction kits go, Pipercross have as a good a reputation as any...

As a general rule, open coned induction kits aren't advised because they have been linked to MAF failure. However, prior to my major engine work, I ran a RamAir Induction kit on a Revo remap for over 20,000 miles with no problems.

On a more positive note you will get a nice induction noise, louder turbo spool, and no doubt a heavier right foot! ;o)

My old 130 Sport was the development car for your kit.

I found it revved even more freely than before and a performance increase was slight but noticeable.

I do deal with pipercross there stuff seems to fit well and are good to.
They prob do 2 cone filters for urs the standard one and the vector one with an inverted cone also panels and vipers . There has been so hear say about all oiled filters killing maf's k&n green ect.. but normaly as ive heard it normaly vaux ecotec engines (which prob benefit using stainless steel gauze) but heard nothing as regards to urs so i would def recomend them.

imo ur prob feel a faster throttle response rather than more power which is not a bad thing.

ye maybe a little faster throttle response ,its hard to tell. havent noticed any change in power (if anything it seems to have lost a few bhp) and cant notice any induction noise at all , overall not very happy and wish id left my original airbox on tbh :( nevermind , you live and learn.

maybe worth asking pipercross if they dyno tested it. As far as the induction noise goes diesel's normaly have alot of sound proofing.

if your geting no power its proberly heat if u can get away with it is to mount the filter inside the air box and attach some cold air feeds (viper style kit) or purchase a heat shield. Gains are more in older cars as the airtract is less efficent.

if poss try to reset your ecu to take into account the filter (see manual)
or even better a custom remap. (but do any other engine mods you have in your pipe line first to save the cash)

this should solve the problem ;)

I have heard alot of people saying they felt like they were loosing power with this kind of induction kit think you need to get some cold air to it, to be honest i would put the standard one back on there do all the modifications that have been mentioned (cut flap, smoothen box, 160 intake) because afterall that is a forced air induction isn't it? i have some ducting which i run from the bottom of the bumper which works great!

Replacing the airfilter before doing a lot of serious engine mods is a complete waste of time on a PD130/160 , even if you had your car remapped you wouldn`t notice any extra power. A good panel filter is Green but there probably isn`t much in it between makes/models and the best induction kit by far is a BMC carbon kit.

^^^ What he said...

Somewhere on here was doing the BMC carbon ones for aout £120 a month ago...

Not much more than you paid for your Pipercross

uh oh , engine warning light came on this morning !
im guessing its to do with this filter :( hope i havnt done much damage.
ebay here it comes lol

I can't see how that symptom can be related in any way to the intake...
If you have the chance run VAG-COM and post here the registered DTC(s).

Good luck! :)

PS - Like some people have said before, a "performance" intake will net no gains on a 1.9 PD TDI engine, so just keep to the standard setup (or just improve the air-feed pipe) and invest you hard earned pennies where it's worth.
