Good work fella, my kind of mod. It's something I'd contemplated for a while but struggled to source a sensibly priced airbag.
I still might revisit the idea yet and I like the fact you've posted the wiring differences which makes my life easier.

Under hard braking, I started to feel a slight judder which I thought was just the grooved discs but have replaced both front discs & pads after I found the inside grooves almost gone:

Outer grooves:

Now with standard Brembo discs/pads:

Starting to get a very faint knocking from passenger side front when I turn right, think it might be the CV starting to go. Got a hold of a set of driveshafts with the intention of refurbing them

Also picked up a rear beam and gonna do the same so it’ll hopefully keep the car from being off the road too long

A couple of hours later and the rear beam was stripped down
Worst bit was cutting out bushes with hacksaw then hammer & chisel to remove bush shells.

I stripped down my spare rear beam last week, I always drill out the rubber all the way round then knock the core out.
Then the recip saw comes out to cut through the casing.
They're actually easier on the Cupra R compared to all the other cars on this platform as it's plastic instead of metal.

Had a problem last month with a wiring fault which caused the car not to start
Anyway it turned out to do with the auto headlight switch I fitted (the dimmer wiring wasn’t compatible with mine and I tried all different connections) so removed that but had to get another lower dash panel as I’d cut mine to accept mk5 golf switch.
Not happy with the Seat light switch

I cut a bigger hole in it to get the auto switch to fit - easy with a dremel as the outline is already shaped into the rear of the cover

A little fettling and got it to slide in snuggly ( no dirty comments!!)

So now I can use original dimmer and level function along with auto headlights

You got the annoying bleep noise when you leave it in auto light I've got on mine.
Which switch have you got exactly, is it the earlier one with a separate box or later generation one without?

So today as the weather was actually dry & sunny I started fitting my strut brace - it’s only taken 3 months!!!!!!!
Undone and moved the bonnet strut out of the way then mock fitted brace to get holes marked out
3bf7f1a347b085614fa9229263383596.jpg

Drilled all holes with 5mm then 11mm drill, cleaned burrs then applied some black paint to the holes to prevent rust

Once the paint dried I fitted the 8mm Rivnuts which was easier than I was expecting

Can’t decide on hex head bolts or cap screws for retaining strut brace

Just need to fettle down the brace to allow bonnet strut to fit onto original location.
More pics to follow

So today I got to it and trimmed down the strut brace, firstly marked the remaining section to be removed, unbolted and removed the brace (1 of the rivnuts started spinning and pulled out when I removed the brace).
Used a small angle grinder and dremmel to get the section removed and smooth then touched it up with black enamel paint (was ready to hand!!).

All back on and secured then refitted the bonnet strut.
