Hi all!

I’m looking at picking up a 2015 Leon Cupra Estate that I’ve found on eBay.

Thought I’d signup here to see if I could find out anymore information about it!

Looks in great condition but I’m always a little skeptical!

Welcome are you after info on the specific car or the 2015 Cupra st I presume it's a 280

Yeah it’s a 280. I dunno the rules around posting links.

Regarding what I’m after -

It just looks really well looked after so I was just wondering if it had been anyone on here’s previously before I go take a look at it.

I’m also probably here to find out a little bit more about the model in general. If there’s anything I need to be aware of and without the Mrs knowing, what mods I can make to it 🤫

It’s in dynamic grey, DSG, 92k, FSH.

With regards to Mods well it can be small and discreet or it can be in your face and way over the top its all down to how you want your motor to look.
Go through peoples readers rides and you will see what others have done but don't forget if you modify the car you need to let your insurance company know.

With regards to more power again the sky is the limit (or more about your bank account) but again you can see all the stuff you can do to engine / gearbox / suspension so get reading.

Finally check out OBD11 / VCDS tools (there are others) these allow you to modify how the car works for example Scandi Lights means your have rear lights working as rear DRL'S.

Things to look out for:

Water pumps are a weak link so check to make sure its been replaced, if not you may have to pay for it.
You state that its got a full service history check what that actually means
check out this list and make sure all these things have been done
Heater Matrix are know to get blocked (lots of post on this subject) so make sure they have the correct header tank (one that does not have a bag in it)
I would ask the seller if any OBD changes have been made (eg have the configured the car to be slightly different to factory)

It’ll definitely be subtle! I’ve never been one for over the top and I quite like the sleeper look it has.

I’ve just seen the exact same model at the top of the readers rides threads from a user from the Netherlands that I’ve commented on. There’s some great stuff in there looking through it.

Thanks for the info. I’ve got access to a VCDS so it’ll come in handy.

Yeah I’ve asked whether they have info on the belt and pump being done. The sale post says the DSG box was serviced at 33k so I’ll have to look into the intervals for that.

I’ll be sure to ask if there’s been any changes. It mentions 2 previous owners with the last being a woman and the MOT history doesn’t throw much up. It has very little advisors other than tyres, pads and unable to check seatbelt due to a car seat being present.

Yes @nd-photo.nl ST is a credit to him and also shows you a number of things he had serviced / upgraded.

Hopefully the car is not to far away and you can go take it for a test drive

DSG Should be serviced every 33700 miles and the one that often gets missed is the Front Electronic Diff (every 3 years)

Does it have a pano roof if it does have a good look round and across the VAG range these are sometimes leaky and the drain plugs should be cleared out on a regular basis.

The other one to double check on is brake fluid change (3 years for first one then every two afterwards)

It doesn’t say the DSG has been done since the 33k mark so that’s something I can negotiate with.

That link to the 208 site is exactly what I needed to thanks!

No pan roof so one less thing to worry about but I’ll definitely check front diff and brake fluid intervals.

There’s a lot that wouldn’t worry me as I’ve been working on cars most of my life and my old man is a mechanic but the less I have to do, the better.

Thanks for all your help so far by the way! I really appreciate it.

Ah I found your thread :)

My Cupra was also behind on 1 DSG oil change and on the diff oil change. I did them both myself. Fortunately, not hard, but for the DSG you need the handpump.

For the diff, buy the Febi oil (its identical to the OE oil). Always buy 2 new plugs and you can full it with a funnel and pipe (or a big syringe).

For the rest I can only recommend this car, its a lot of fun. Even with only FWD, I dont have any complaints with traction (thanks to LSD). Also the traction control is not invasive at all, the Mercedes TC was ridiculous compared to this.

Thank you @nd-photo.nl. I appreciate it.

Yeah I have no issues doing the work myself which is good but the more I know about these cars the better.

I’ve had a good look through you posts. I saw you updated the head unit. Do they come with the MIB2 or did you update it then upgrade the firmware on it?
