Hi everyone,

Recently picked up my Formentor and for the most part it’s been great. I do however have a weird issue, where my “dipping mirror” for parking goes upwards instead of down. Has anyone had this issue and fixed it themselves, or should I just go back to Cupra to sort?

Thanks!

You’ve not said if you reset the dipping function when you got the car so that it’s set up for your seating position and view of the kerbside image and not that of the previous owner. This is something you need to do as the way the previous owner’s had it set up probably doesn’t work for you as you’ve discovered; we’re all different shapes and sizes so what’s correct for one person won’t be correct for another.

The procedure to be followed for setting up the kerbside mirror dipping function is outlined in the owner’s manual - go to the index at the back of the manual and find ‘Mirrors - adjusting the exterior mirrors’. On the relevant page, there should be a section for ‘Saving the passenger rear view mirror settings for reversing’. Note that reference in the owner’s manual to setting the mirror adjustment control knob to the ‘R’ position is for LHD cars. For the UK, the control needs to be set to ‘L’ (i.e. the nearside/ kerbside mirror) for setting up the dipping function and also when you want to use the dipping function. When I had my VW I used to leave the mirror control set to ‘L’ all the time apart from when I needed to use the mirror heating function.
