I'm looking for an automatic Arosa at the moment, and the difference in price between cars is amazing.

A MK1 can go from £700 - £2500, regardless of mileage!

i think its cause people forget that the mk1 is the older design , ive seen an X-reg mk1 sport up for sale for £4k , now no offence , its a 7year old car yet you can get the newer shaped mk2 sport for the same price a few years newer with less mileage!!!

I've noticed that prices are very variable!

I've got to sell my Arosa, and really don't know if I'm pitching it at the right price.

I looked on Auto Trader, and all the other 1.4s Arosas that are on a 54 plate seem to be around the 5k mark... and there was also a 53 plate that was at 5.5k!!!

I originally put mine up for 4995, but I really need to sell it now. Work is tight, so I've dropped it down to 4750 and said I'm open to offers... but I still don't know if I'm aiming at the right price.

:help:

Look at Parkers, What Car? and call a couple of dealers up adding about 10% to the price they quote you. Should give you a ball park...?

Arosa prices are crazy, you get seriously cheap ones, ones way over what they are worth and ones in the middle.

So its hard, obviously if your selling you want as much as possible for it, but if your buying you want to pay as little as possible, but still getting one of the best available.

I bought my 2003 1.0S Arosa in December 2004 for £3700, now i thought that was a bargin for a 18 month old car, id not seen any others around that price at the time and it was the first one i saw (i wasnt actually looking for an arosa i just stumbled across it and liked it so much i had to have it!) so i bought it.

I recon now its worth about £3200, so its lost £500 in 3 years and 20K later, all ive ever had to buy for it is 4 tyres and a few services. Now thats what i call cheap motoring.

When i bought my 2002 Arosa TDi i think i got a good deal then too, its just finding the good deals i guess.

They are cracking cars though, and my 1.0S is worth far more to me than £3200 so its staying with me, it looks mint and its still lowish mileage, especially with lots of new bits which were replaced under warranty, including a new engine replaced under warranty 13,000 miles ago, its practically brand new!

So what im saying is just keep a look out, i keep seeing people buying arosas for bargin prices, so they are out there. Although Automatics are fairly rare and seem to be priced quite highly too.

Oh: and dont take much notice of parkers and the likes, they always seem to value way under what its worth, the best bet is looking on autotrader for a similar car to yours. Ive just read that in the autocar this week too, to its good advice.

The best used guied ive seen is the one in autotrader, ever now and again there is one towards the back for superminis, and it values a 2004 1.0S arosa for about £2K i mean what on earth!

The thing you have to remember about the one that your looking for is that its an AUTOMATIC, small automatic cars aren't really popular brand new but desired second hand, so they fetch a higher premium

Mine is a 1999 1.0 which only had 30k on the clock when I bought it in July and I paid £1800 for it, which I personally think is a bargain! Although, all the plastic bits keep falling off...:p

I bought mine from my friend. He bought it new in '96 and serviced it every 6 months himself. Had done 36k on the clock and I paid £2200 for it, which for a 1.4 auto is pretty good. Only trouble is that in 18 months I have added modifications but, practically doubled the mileage :(

Well, I have finally put a deposit down on a 1.4 auto '98.

I almost went for a Smart ForTwo, but drove one and hated it!
Test drove the auto, and it was incredibly smooth.
More than I wanted to pay, but just couldn't find a cheap auto!

We were looking at Auto Micras - and those really do go for silly money.. found our '98 auto 1.4MPI Arosa and paid £1650 in the end - 66k miles, good condition. Very pleased with it thus far.

Cheers,

Thats a good price, what area are you in?

I found that Arosa's in the north - specifically Scotland etc - seem to sell for much less than the south.

We live in Surrey, but travelled to Bedford to view/buy the car. We got it for almost exactly what Parkers said it was worth, so was pleased enough with that.

I did find that in almost all cases the demand for small autos meant that they are hugely more costly than their manual equivalents.

Ours was on Autotrader and Ebay, same price on each.

Cheers,
Stu
