Project: Emigrate to NZ w/ Mk1 Seat Leon Cupra

Hi-de-ho.
1st Post!

I'm emigrating to New Zealand, and I'm taking my Seat Leon with me. I think might be the second person to try this - maybe I'll meet that other (google "vask SEATS in NZ") "Transformer" Seat Leon Cupra ....

I'm looking for help to fill my antipodean kit bag. What can the smart Seat mechanics in this forum advise? Apologies in advance if this isn't right thread.

Car: 53 plate, Black Mk1 Seat Leon Cupra, 47K miles, remapped, well serviced and cared for.

Unsurprisingly NZ don't do recent Seat, but they do have VW. The nice people at immigration will pass Euro3 class. So my worry at this point will be parts and trim.

I'm going to ignore trim for now, betting against collision damage - 10 years so far touch wood.

Can I get your professional opinion on parts: Can ongoing maintenance and servicing be handled by any VW specialist ? Should I acquire a Seat service/trade manual ? Haynes don't do one.

Recent History,
- 2013 front bushes replaced, new windscreen, some new bulbs
- 2012 new fuel filter, tyres, coilpacks, aircon
- 2011 cambelt
- 2010 brake discs, exhaust

If I load up on some perishable spares I'm unlikely to be able to get abroad, what should I be looking at? Rear spolier brake light cluster?

Thanks for your help,

Hi, did you pull it off? I found a MK2 Leon Cupra 1p in Auckland, believe it or not, and neat too.

I found a company that will import from the UK,

European Development
Autohub New Zealand Ltd.

ps - i know its late , sorry!

Hi there!

Yup my Cupra mk1 is parked up at ours in Auckland right this second. One year in and toured a few places in the north island so far. Smooth roads have been a blast. Unsealed on fairly sporty suspension is a different story.

Most people call it a Leon; I guess they can't bring themselves to call it a seat (like you sit on).

cool, well done:rofl: , i wanted to bring mine from SA, but was afraid of the drama, till i found the one in AKL, so i bought that one and selling my old one back home.

I'm the guy in the only Orange MK2 face lift :), im in WLG though.

PS -CORRECT THEM, I DO - SEAT, S.A. (English pronunciation: /ˈsɛ.æt/ "seh-at"; Spanish: [ˈse.at]) :p
