Prospray - Warrington

Hey,

Has anyone used these?

They were recommended by Awesome GTI today (top service today btw ) but I don't know much about them. I took my car down there this afternoon and they seemed top but I was wondering whether anyone else had used them in the past?

I'm after having my bonnet, a-pillar, and rear off side arch resprayed (small dent that I'd like removing). They guys at Prospray quoted £1050 (including VAT) which I though was very good. My only concern is that I might be able to see the that the car has had panels resprayed after the work is done ...Is It possible to get a perfect finish/color match without respraying the entire car?

I'll be paying for this work out of my own pocket so want it to be right. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I'm wondering whether it would be wrong for me to get my hopes up...

if its platinum you should really be blending the colour through to adjoinig panels to allow for perfect colour match, they should blend both front wings, poss the rear doo too, and they may aswell do the door for colour,

i know if we were doing that sort of job it would be around :

if it was just the bonnet, pillar,and quarter

paint £250 labour £75.00

with all the blending

paint £360 labour £150

all plus the vat, so there on the dearer side, but if there in the manchester area that may be why,

just make sure you insure your courtesy car fully comp, and jobs a good un

but to reitterate, check if the colour is being blended as you wont get it edge to edge,

Sorry I wasn’t clear on what I was having done…

Front bumper, bonnet (blending into the wings), drivers side a-pillar, very small dent on offside rear wheel arch, offside rear door and offside front door (these will be filled as they are on the edge of the panel and the paint will be blended). The dents that I’ve asked them to remove are so small that 99% of the population wouldn’t be ale to see them. The problem is I’m a perfectionist and in certain light they are visible.

I was told by the guys at the workshop that work would be perfect (if not they would do it again). It’s just I’ve never had a car sprayed before so can’t see how it’s possible to get a factory finish without respraying the entire car?

ah you see, that makes it better

what they should/prob/will do is take the bumper off, stone chips im guessing, then sand and prime both the bonnet and bumper, repair said dents once the car is stripped, then prep the panels for paint,

the shine is given by the clear coat, most clears are water clear but some have a yellow cast to them depends on the manufacture. the colour is basecoat, wether there on water base or solvent, it really doesnt matter but water base does offer a better match.

some companys like ourselves have cameras that scan the paint and pic the best match for it, be it subaru, vw or a skoda,

its then mixed up and applied over the damaged areas, and across any panels that need blending, this dries dull. the aim is not to put new colour next to old coloured panels, hence why we blend, the new colour by being blended means your eyes cant see where the old and new paint start, as they join together unless its painted wrong lol.

this lot then gets a coat of clear, allowed to bake hard in the booth and then flatted and polished to replicate the factory finish.

thats it, if its done right you wont see it at all.

That’s great, thanks very much for the info!

I’m sure the work will be top quality and the finish will be perfect. It’s just I’m a respray virgin (so to speak) so wanted to understand how blending works and whether it’s effective.

I know it doesn’t pay to do a job on the cheap and the cost isn’t that important (providing it isn’t over 1.2k). The last thing I wanted was a multicoloured car lol!
