Question about rns315 head unit

Just bought a 59 reg fr with the nav unit installed, only had a very quick play with the stereo as I don't pick it up till next Saturday.

My questions are and I realise they have prob been asked before so I apologise

Are all 315 units dab capable? When I pressed the band button it only gave options for fm and am, if it is dab capable how do I enable it?

Also when I pressed the phone button it just muted the music and gave no options for hands free calling etc is this because I haven't paired my phone yet or does this specific head unit not have Bluetooth?

Hope someone can shed some light for me. Car is a facelift model by the way..

The phone button on the head unit just mutes the music
The steering wheel controls will do what you need when paired with phone. Doesn't stream music though .

Not sure on DAB , doubt it does it.

That's a bummer, I thought the 315's could stream music from my phone.

Just watched some youtube videos about a VW 315 head unit, on the videos when they press the phone button it brings up the pairing sequence and then once paired you can access your phone book and make calls etc direct from the head unit

I thought all of the 315's could do this

Not all 315's are the same. For instance - the unit in our LCR would do voice activated dialling when the mike button was pressed on the steering wheel. The one in the Passat, wouldn't. It would only mute the audio. I do not know if that is down to the unit itself or the controls on the steering wheel . Both cars were the same age , delivered within a month of each other (62 plates) both had DAB.
Info know some earlier models wouldn't do full UK postcodes either.
Have you got a DAB antenna fitted?

Thanks for the reply, not sure about the antenna being fitted, I don't actually pick the car up until this coming Saturday. Looks like I'm going to have to pull the radio out which is another question on how I go about it.

Bought this one with the sat nav unit in it as I thought I could do Bluetooth streaming etc :/

Just a thought, if it's a 59 plate it may not be a 315, I'm not sure when they started fitting them. Is it a facelift model?

Yeah it's a facelift, registered 10th sept 2009.

I did notice while test driving it that in the cd slot was a navigation cd.
