Keep going back and forth between which one to use for my weekly washes.. the car will have a good wax base to start with (that I'll strip off every couple months and reapply)..

If anyone can advise me which to use as part of my weekly wash (and offer justification as to why) I'd really appreciate it..

Thanks in advance :)

Good question.

It really depends how slick the car feels. As I recently detailed mine (3 months back now) every time I wash the car I use Quick wax as the car feels clean to the touch. With winter fast approaching this will change and the paint surface may start to feel a tad gritting. I would be more inclined to use a more lubricative quick detailer than quick wax in that scenario.

Quick wax will add more protection, layer better and at same time protect the good quality wax product underneath.

Whereas quik detailer pretty much doesn't add any layers of protection, just provides a glossy finish?

If the surface felt a bit rough would you not be better off claying/using paint cleaner, polishing, and re-waxing?

Thanks again for the reply by the way :)

Hi Paul, what are you looking for from the product as i find some quick detailers offer a smal amout of protection where a quick spray wax can give you a longer level of protection.

The car has a decent wax finish at the moment.. My question about quick detailer versus quick wax was really to help me decide what to use as part of my weekly wash, after washing snd drying, just to finish off and apply the shiny finish.. Ideally if this quick finishing product added a bit of protection too that'd be a bonus..

I was just thinking surely there's a downside to the quick waxes otherwise everyone would use them and the quick detailer wouldn't exist...

Does that make any sense?!

Any cracking all in one product that i use a lot is Carpro Reload, really easy to apply and buff and gives stunning glossy finish with months of added protection

Surely you don't need to quick detail your car every time you wash it? Especially over winter with more contaminants in the air you're setting yourself up for higher risk over swirl marks (dependant on your washing technique)

I (and I speak for myself) only use quick detailer before meets or shows, as I'm confident week to week my wax only requires me to wash and dry and it still looks lovely and shiny. Totally down to personal preference but in between major details I maintain the less you buff your car the better as long as your washing method is wax safe and correct

You could have a point there.. I'd like to keep the wax topped up over winter though so will probably be carefully quick waxing every fortnight.. Or have been reading about CarPro Reload after some comments on another forum.. That stuff will last longer than quick was so I should only need to do it monthly over the winter..

I'm using a CG's spray sealant as I personally feels it protects the wax and helps it last that little longer before I can detail properly. I wouldn't use Reload, mainly as it says to make sure the surface is free from solvents or wax though as I haven't used it myself I can't say if it matters whether it's put on over wax or not . I'm unsure about wax over wax (if that makes sense), I'd build up layers using the same wax but probably not a 'wet' wax on top, my preference is to seal the wax I already have on there :)

i used meguiars compound then the ultimate wax then the detailer and it brang my bonnet out like brand new couldnt see a scratch or mark on it

This is due to heavy fillers, much like that used in the autoglym hd wax :) fillers will last if you seal them in with a durable wax or synthetic sealant but the ultimate wax is very oily and will most likely wash away in no time
