Just checked on my system and command is indeed "navigation announcements on/off"

I can't remember if I had to do some setting up when I first got the car i.e. training the system to recognise my voice like some previous voice activated systems I've used - maybe that's where your accent comes in?

So me shouting "shut the f..k up !" In my broad Brummie accent is not helping then. I did wonder...... :p

I have an Australian/Brummie accent, how the hell do you think I cope with it?

Still not cracked mine on voice command. And if I press the steering wheel mute button whilst there’s an announcement it only mutes that announcement.

Has anyone else noticed that the satnav pronounces things differently now and again... For example, I regularly use the A444 in Coventry, and sometimes it will say A 'four four four', other times it seems to stammer and comes out as f' fo' four. It's very odd!

I have one that, like my Navteq in the old merc, sometimes tells me to "take the 3rd exit off the square" when I'm on a roundabout.....square? it's ROUND, you stupid machine!

Being Scottish, I gave up trying the voice thing.

Same here. Worse than the fact it does not do the thing you want it to do is the fact it'll do something else instead. I tried to get it to do something and it called some random person from my address book! Gave up on it after that.

I've found most voice command systems pretty rubbish/complicated to learn to be honest and as such have hardly used them when they have been part of a car I've had. Thankfully this SEAT system does understand "navigation announcements on/off" in my mixed up accent (it's the only command I've bothered to remember...)
