As some of you are aware me and my wife Hazel Mohamed went through a tough time last year when Hazel gave birth to twin girls in the early hours of Oct 17th. Some of you know that Hazel wasn't due to become a new Mum until January, so it was quite a surprise when our girls decided they wanted to see the world early, at 26 weeks!
Alisha Rose and Jasmine Rebecca were the names we decided on and the girls weighed a delicate 800g and 735g (1lb 12 oz and 1lb 10oz for the old fashioned folk!).
Directly after birth both girls were transferred to the Neonatal Intensive care unit at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, they both received the best care possible care. Sadly a week later Jasmine lost her fight and passed away after an operation.
Alisha improved well and after 4 weeks was strong enough to have been transferred from the specialist hospital to our local Neonatal Unit in Milton Keynes, where she continued to put on weight and we were finally allowed to take her home on 13th January.
One thing we noticed when Alisha was transferred was the difference in funding each unit receives, Oxford had all the latest equipment while Milton Keynes has to make do with what they have, Mr and Mrs Gower have been gracious in letting us nominate one of the two cause’s too receive the great support you all can provide and with their blessing we have chosen Milton Keynes Neonatal unit.
The event organisers, Me & Hazel would like to make a donation in Jasmine’s memory and provide something that will save and support new lives
The second Charity that is being support is the Homes for Heros
This Charity was founded on the 23rd April 2010 in response to the plight of homeless ex service personnel. It is estimated that over 4500 previously serving members of the British Armed Forces are sleeping rough in the UK today. With MOD due to be making cuts this figure is going to rise.
UK Homes 4 Heroes objectives are:
1. To dedicate hostel style accommodation to our ex service personnel and only them. Providing a safe, clean living environment where they can feel secure and at home.
2. To help gain a permanent home through social housing, assisting through the application and bidding phases.
3. To provide counselling services for people with psychological disorders, i.e. Depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Over the short period in which this charity has formed the response they have had from the British Public has been overwhelming.
Now all we need is you. Together we can make a difference
I am sure you will agree that both these causes are worth of the great support our car community can give
There will be various raffles prizes and the dyno will be running will all proceeds being split between the 2 charities
We would like to thank everyone in advance for all the support
We have already got some amazing prices with the values in the hundred from very generous companies but if you know of anybody else willing to donate please give them the details
