Hello buddies,
2 Months ago, i started a Thread about my me building a Racing SEAT leon here in Guatmala. So now i want to keep you informed of our improvements on the car.
We have trusted in a forum sponsor, Backdraftmotorsport in buying the turbo kit for the car. Since we have contact up Mark Hosken, we really had a very good comunication.
At first chance, the turbo appeared to be expensive, but when i received a list of all the parts that are included, we instantly said to go for it, since getting all the pieces from several ways could be a direct direction for disaster.
Mark has really been nice with us, so he paid us a visit here!!! to supervised the installation and setup of the car. Guatemala's Track is very particular as it is a tough place to run, because of temperatures levels and also the circuit is very short, tight and narrow; it appears to be quite a challenge.
With everything installed we made our first time attack and testing. From the last race we lowered almost 5.4 seconds (with hot condictions = slower times)... thats really a lot! considering that we still dont have brakes, and LSD we were only 1.5 seconds from the pole position.
Unfortunally because the engine mounts are still stock as well (time factor). The engine moves quite a lot and it let loose an intercooler hose during qualification, and that leaved us to the 14th place. Something that Mark pointed out in the first moment that he saw the car, but there was no more time to waste.
During the race.
We started half way in the back, and in the 3rd turn, some nuthead came directly to crash from behind. He bended a metal from the rear bumper up to the tyre. and i had a spin with the car. When i recovered, felt, and knew that the noise coming from the rear tyre fomr the crash, was only superficial and not a big issue, i was on position 20th.
From there it as a GO GO signal from Mark from the pits, and we started to go fast. Every lap we overtake other racers. Many turbo cars started to failed. But we just kept going...
At lap 15 a driver have a engine failure and track was covered from oil, so the pace car came in to let the workers to clean it up. When we realize we were 7th. Then, on the resuming of the race, in the main straight i overtake another fast car that runs with less weight (a Toyota Glanza turbo), and in the final lap, in a really tight manauver i managed to overtake another Glanza (he won the last race) for 5th place.
Even so that we couldnt make a podium, we showed that the car is very competitive. We would like to thanks Mark Hosken, and also say to all those how are considering to buy products form him, that go for it.
The car now changed completly. No LAG, 28psi (i think it is like 1.86bar). Reliable constant power made a HUUUUUGE diference. Like most of costumers, we dont use the product of street use, we used directly for racing, and it had worked like a charm. Very very recomended.
Here are some pics.
Here is Mark Hosken.
We need to catch up... from 20th to 5th with no time to loose.
After the race, everybody celebrate because we are finally competitive.. next round we hope to have brakes and LSD to show who is the new contender.
