Having found out that the rain sensor was hanging off my pride and joy I quickly took it apart to find someone had bodged it on with a double sided foam sticky pad and some instant gasket. So I quickly ordered a new silicone pad, albeit a cheaper one off ebay, and cleaned all the silicone of the sensor bracket so it looked shiney and new again.
Upon fitting the new silicon pad it was perfect stuck well and worked. For about 3 days when it fell off again, so deciding that I needed to stop being tight and get one bought I spent £20 on one from my local TPS dealer assured they only supply genuine parts.
Fitted the second silicone rain sensor pad after ensureing the windscreen was clean and dry with no oily deposits on ........ and the damn thing peeled straight off, wouldnt even stick for a minute.
I was hoping that someone may be able to advise me, or had had a similar problem.....

HELP

I got the pad from Trade Parts Specialists I'm beginning to wonder if the silicon pad needs supporting to allow it to stick may try taping it on

Love to be one to revive an old thread but I've been manic most of the year massive thanks to all that commented turns out that the bracket is supposed to be glued to the windscreen so now it's in position it works perfectly :)

Did you heat the silicone pad? Heat one side and then stick it to the sensor, then as you peel the back off heat the other side and stick to the windscreen. Should help bond to the screen. I had this done by a local Seat garage and they said it took 24 hours for it to then bond properly.

EDIT: - Just read that it's been sorted I know they can be a real pain!

Cheers dude the trouble was that some lovely person had I'd assume had the windscreen replaced at some point and the bracket wasn't glues back on so glue that back on and it's been perfect ever since
