Don't put Rain X on the windscreen, you will have very poor vision at night in the rain; it smears badly.
Great for side windows and mirrors and even better on shower cubicles.

Never had any issue with smearing. You sure you have polished it off properly after letting dry?

I also have no smearing or whatsoever and maybe you did not polish it off correctly.
In light rain I do not have to use the wipers even!
