Anyone else had this? No idea what caused it or what it means as no messages popped up but occasionally I will get a random ‘bong’ chime from mmi.

Anyone know what it is?

I get a chime when I am near a toll booth. Usually before or after.

But, I've seen other people say it's related to changing of cell towers, for example when leaving 5G area.

I thought that originally but I would then expect the same noise every time I passed that area. Also, not been near any toll booths. The mystery continues.

If you have the sat nav notifications turned right down, it will chime to announce something (eg traffic up ahead). This is whether or not you are actively using the navigation.
Could it be that?

Not that either. Announcements are on as I regularly get updates of ‘congestion ahead’ on my usual route.

What is the point of a chime when you have no idea what it is alerting you to.

Is it the same noise as when you turn the cabin light on?

I had a similar noise. First time using the inbuilt sat nav.

it sounded like if you dropped a ball on a table. And it bounced 3 times. And it did this with 2-3 second intervals for about 1-2 minutes. Then stopped. Strangest thing ever

I believe this is related to Cupra Connect, happened to me when using Android auto until I disabled it and use it as basic user. Most probably notifies you that you re losing connection with the service due to poor signal or for whatever other reason. To me after a while a yellow warning light with an SOS would appear on the dashboard until I would stop the car for a while and then would disappear but this was going on and on in places where internet signal was not good.It would not affect the use of the car in any way though, however it scared me the first time it appeared as I was on a mountain road trip and didn't know what happened and for what reason.Nothing since disabling the Cupra Connect.

I had some chimes popping out from nowhere due to nav system. If I remember right, there is something like "Remember routes". so after one month spent in one city, on my way to another one, it chimed every time I could make an U-turn.
