rattle on idle

tbh pr0xy it didnt rattle like that since i had it repaired, come to think of it, it started just after i had it serviced...... maybe they forgot to tighten somthing up i dont know... anyways

dropped it off this morning so should know more this aft
in the mean time they gave me this as a courtsey car:

brand new 1.2 S Copa with full bodykit and a Nokia bluetooth system.

i thought the Copa was suppost to have all the options ticked, but this dosnt have folding mirrors, or the bluetooth and USB/CUP, or even a trip computer!

does have cruise control tho... strange!

just picked mine up, it needs a new wing mirror.... as i thought
as for the rattle they couldnt find the source of it

have to book it in so they can keep it overnight and il do that when they get the new wing mirror in

on the job side of things, if it does go sour, they said they will buy it for £8000
which isnt good really but will pay the remainder of my finance off so atleast its one less bill to worry about...

I said a few weeks ago that I had a small pad added to the engine bay to stop the fuel pipes ratteling. It was all good untill now the noise is back, which leads me to believe it must be something else.

Back in november i had the hydraulic chain tensioner changed becasue of a rattle on idle.

Everyone with a rattle, do you all have tsi engines? I know some of you have 1.4tsi, ive got the 1.2tsi, but is there any non tsi engines having a rattle?

Takin mine tomorrow, hopefully it will be sorted as I'm getting sick of all these issues
Sent the video you uploaded to the manager so he can hear it as prolly I won't be able to replicate it once there so thanks for uploading that saved me alot of hassel

your rattle might be the fuel pipes inside the engine. I had a similar problem where the rattle would come on idle, go away when driving and away in start/stop mode.

Took it to the garage and this seems to be a problem Seat know about. There is a foam padding out now which allows the fuel pipes to sit in, stopping them from rattling.

The fuel pipes come up in the top Left hand side of the engine (when looking in from the bonnet)

I dont have the car just now, i will get it tomorrow afternoon, once ive got it i will get a few photos up. I will also look out the paperwork i got with the warranty work and let you know the exact parts which they used.

Ive been out and taken a few photos. Ive never uploaded photos before so Ive just uploaded them to picasa so hopefuly you can view them.

Ive also looked out the service invoice.

just a quick update.
since the weather has warmed up some its not rattling as much so must have somthing to do with the cold.

its booked in for the 7th march to replace the wingmirror and find the cause of this rattle.
since lately i have been worried over my job, i have been concidering other cars
happily i was told yesterday my job is safe however im still concidering swapping for a leon.

warrenty on mine expires this year and i dont fancy paying out if it starts to develop more faults...

You guys have explained and shown the same noise my car has been making for the past 6months and its been driving me mad. So im kind of gald its not just my car.

A couple of days ago my car has its first service and I thought I would metion about the noise as well. After I got my car back my dealership said they needed more time and wanted my car for a whole day. They also said that they had an ibiza with the simlier problem and it was something to do with the fuse box so my car might be the same.

After reading this thread it looks like it could be something else... Im going to book my car in soon for it to be fixed and I will be telling them what other dealerships has said. So thanks alot to everyone who posted here.

took it in yesterday, just picked it up today.
it was the fuel pipes vibrating so all sorted

wing mirror was replaced too.
