How do all,

Well, im coming to the point where im considering getting rid of the FR already, just feels so unrefined compared to my Leon and the other cars i drive.

- The road/tyre noise
- Wind noise
- The ability to not have the window open a teeny bit without getting a wet arm, ever AFTER the rain has stopped
- Hard susp....not very comfy at all!
- The general feel of the car through corners as the power steering is very light and twitchy with no feel to it really.

What options do I have? Would throwing £500 at the car for a RARB, etc etc make the difference I need? Would changing tyres/wheels/suspension give me SOME comfort?

Failing that, i might have to go back to the Leon stable, but finding a decent Cupra TDi with nice miles would be a task as well as going from GRP8 on the FR to GRP13 on a Cupra TDi for the insurance!

Thanks all,

Jimski

The Ibiza is never going to be quiet smooth and comfy it is what it is . Don't think you chucking money at it will get you were you want to be

New tyres - 400
Rarb - 130
Suspension - 500
Wind deflectors - 40
Adjust power steering via vag com - free
Sound deadening - 200

That's what you'd need. And even then it's not as good as most cars. It's certainly better though.

Haha, this is true i suppose! Might go for the rear arb, front strut brace and windies!

.....and then mull over some new susp!

I think i shall shake off my premature 'old man-ness' and part with some cash, the yeller'en deserves a second chance :p

Going from bigger car down to ibiza the things you mention are not surprising tbh sound like you want something a bit better build quality and less small hatch tbh.

Tyre noise- I had this on certain roads it was the tyres tbh not the car
wind noise- you must have researched this car this is to be expected nearly everyone has it I do not notice it and I have loud music on or the window down listening to the exhaust!lol

Suspension bouncy rather than hard IMO yes it crap mine is now firm but much better but no point
spending all that money if all these other things bother you.
The ride- did you notice this on test drive I love the way it is through corners so amazing with my suspension mods and now car is finished almost with map loving it even more than ever!

Think you have answered it already you are not happy time to move on doesn't help you had all them other problems to start with I have had very very few problems so can't relate to that I guess.

Tyre noise - Choice of tyre - I've got some shocking ones on at the mo, can't wait to wear them down and get some better ones.

Wind noise - stop your whinging and turn the stereo up :p

The ride and handling i agree with i came from a citreon C2 GT and that was much better in that area, everything else in the ibiza is ok, mine seems pretty quiet all around apart from road noise, but thats crap tyres so il get some good ones and thats that sorted.

I say map it and get coilys, that will put a massive smile on your face, trust me.

Screw all those things. Get some ap coilovers (nice hard ride), cupra wishbone bushes, a strut brace, vag com cable, toyo proxy tr1's, RARB and a map. The fr isnt meant to be a comfy, quite car! Its a stupidly designed yet brilliantly fun car to play in. Thats why I love mine to bits!!!!!!!

Sounds like uv'e gone for the wrong car mate , Like said get urself a remap rear anti rollbar , strut brase ,coilovers , Solid mount and see how much fun the car can be! Its really not ment to be a cruiser , Just think of it as a clio 182 you just dont buy them to cruise the motorway!

Mines alright on the motorway tbh, the toyos aint too bad for noise, it has cruise control, climate control, decent stereo, brutal in gear overtaking punch. What more you want

Got to agree with comments by OP.

I drove our Ibiza FR TDI for the first time in two months last weekend. After getting used to the size, high up view and quietness of the Altea, it was quite a shock how agricultural and noisy the Ibiza was.

My wife remains loyal to the little beast though.

i agree, my toyos seem a lot quieter than the ones that came with my alloys

just wish it wasn't so noisy with the suspension although turning up the music helps :D

Ive got hancook s1's cheap enugh and not too bad on good roads , Although my car is awfull on newly laid bumpy roads with the Super-pro poly bushed rear engine mount makes it even louder haha , Ibiza's are all about fun been a small hot hatch just get a map and some more mods and you will love it
