Rear Electric Window Issue

Hey All.

Not been around much since the birth of our girl but now she is out and about in her recaro baby seat, I have found some problems with the rear windows.

I have an MY07 Cupra and the driver side rear window seems to activate the anti squeeze feature about an inch from the top, causing the window to drop down again.

If you do this on the door switch as a one touch operation, it goes up, gets to within an inch of closing, then rolls back down.

If you hold the switch as if it was a manual close, it still goes up to within an inch but simply stops.

The best part is that after a few times the switch stops working and you then have to turn the engine off and on again to reset something.

Anyone had this type of problem before? I did search the Mk2 section for "windows electric rear" and saw nothing that I thought was relevant.

I will get it into the dealers to get sorted, however it would have been nice to get some background or experience of other owners with this problem.

I checked the runners where I could for any debris and could not find anything at all.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

Could be one of the runners isn't aligned properly, or it's moved.
I've always used a bit of washing-up liquid on the seals on previous cars when they have been stiff.
Sort of related, my car (corsa) has had something knocking in the door for the past 2 years, took the door card off yesterday and the runner had falled off completely, found the 2 screws and put it back!

I had the same problem. The dealer fixed it, but not permanently. It started happening again. I'm sure if you take it to the dealers, they'd repair it and if it happened again, they'd have to look into it further, maybe even replacing the switch, like they did with mine.

The window regulators have a soft stop position, which stops them banging shut or fully open. This can be set by closing the window fully in step mode (should enter this mode after 3 anti-trap activations or failing that after a battery reset... or try removing and replacing the fuse) When fully closed, hold the switch up for a couple of seconds and you should hear the relay click again, confirming the new position. Should be OK then.

If this doesn't work, especially as you've checked for obstructions, it sounds like a dodgy electronic... especially if it's an intermittent fault. Then it's dealer job.

The pause in function is caused by thermal protection to stop the motor overheating. Could be software but can be a simple as a bi-metallic strip.

Good luck!
