Rear top mount gone already?

Hi all,

I've been getting a bit of a knocking noise from the rear left of the car. It's noticeable mainly over bumpy surfaces but not mega loud but as a driver I can hear it.

I've taken everything out of the boot to see if was something internal causing it but it's still there.

The coil spring is fine.

Does this sound like a top mount from what I'm saying? I can't think of anything else it could be. The car is a Dec 2022 Leon FR hatch on 13k miles so seems a bit early for a top mount but the roads around my estate are pretty bad.

It's still got warranty but I know how it is with these sort of faults, they can never find them or the car behaves when the mechanic drives it.

Any advise please?

I owned a mk6 VW Golf GTD (owned from new) that developed a knocking noise from the rear at around 16k miles / 2 years old. Faulty rear shock absorbers were diagnosed as the cause; the shocks were replaced under warranty and no more knocking noises.

I also had the rear seat latch issue in that car, although I’d describe the noise from the rear seat latches to be more of a rattling noise than a knocking noise.

thanks lads, I'll have a look at the seat latches tomorrow. Tbf, I've had the back seats up and down a bit lately so you could be on to something.

Cheers.

I had the same (seat latch) issues with several Hondas previously and thought they were suspension related.

Thanks all! Just realised I'd posted this from my old account.

So, I put tape around the seat latch, noise still there. Tape around door latch, noise still there...

Touch wood I think I've sorted it with tape around the boot latch!

:)
