Refurbing Brembos properly....

Have had my car now nearly 6 years and if im fair the colour has lasted pretty well. Done a short term refurb last year with just laquer and it was ok, but im missing the 'super bright red' of the Brembos. Have started to get some quotes from some paint places but unsure whether to get them done at a motorsport place (so the caliper gets refitted correctly) instead of a paint shop that i would imagine i will have to remove and refit myself....which obviously i dont wanna do.

Im thinking of doing it myself, or do you recommend i get it done professionally? Obviously if done correct will last another 6 years.

I brought some Hammerite red the other day, so was contemplating doing it myself. If i do have a go, the calipers will be done in situ, but will i need primer or paint thinners or even laquer too? do i apply 3 layers of paint and 3 layers of laquer....or what?

Have no idea on this, i want it to take no longer than a day as i drive my car all the time lol..

think the answer is in the title to do it properly they need removing stripping paint lacquer then all new seals to rebuild a proper job is not a 5 minute job sorry

As Tony says you are contradicting what you want in the post title with what you want in the post.

If you want a proper job its going to mean caliper removal, strip down, preparation, paint and bake, reassembly, refit etc etc as I am sure I've missed some steps eg stickers.
To do all this in a day is a big ask and will need some serious coordination if at all possible.

To do it in a day you are looking at slapping on a few coats with the calipers still on the car.

Sorry i meant if i was to do it myself i will only take a day. If done professionally i would expect a couple of days, my point was have owners on here done the calipers with hammerite and is it as good a job as doing it at the paintshop? Obviously it all boils down to time and money......

I have read posts where people have used Hammerite and got good results on the car.
I used Halfords enamel and did them off the car because I was in the position of upgrading to the Brembos so could afford to take my time.
Its never going to be as good a job doing it that way as a paintshop, however its a brake caliper and will never have the scrutiny that the bodywork paintwork will get.

as above painting them on the car even taking your time will never be as good as a professional job
all depends on your attention detail
I have painted calipers on a car with Hammerite still takes more than 1 day due to drying time and it looked OK but then I am an engineer by trade so prefer perfect which takes longer but worth it

To do a proper job that will last I would allow 5 day minimum assuming you have the right trade contacts
