Remap and coilpacks

Had my LCR 225 remapped yesterday, today in third gear, hit 4-5K revs and misfire then running rough. Feels juddery and like its chokey. especially pulling away in low revs. Drove it round the corner and back home. The engine management light flashes intermittently. Everything pointing towards coil packs. Would you agree?

I dont know when they were last replaced so I think its best to get all of them replaced.

I know this is extremely common, what coil packs are best as replacements? I dont want to get some OEM ones from euro car parts just for them to go again. I've read a lot about these red one that awesomegti sell, but have heard they're not uprated just a fancy colour.

Those of you that have had this issue please could you point me in the right direction or even link me to the right ones. Thanks in advance.

Same happened to me not long after I got my cupra mapped. 99.9999% coil packs, could swap them between cylinders to if the misfire follows just to be sure.

I just went down the OEM route and have had no issues since.

But as you said, best to replace them all in case happens next week too!

Where did you get yours from?

I say stock is good enough.
Red one's look nice, then the adaptor cost, seems a bit too much for no real time results from the so called upgrade.
Also replacing Should push you're power up a little to, as that was probably the issue on the first run on the Dyno showing a loss of stock power.
Maybe wrong but the fact is I don't find any Dyno providing proof of better spark/better running engine over stock coils.

No they were Bosch ones - mine is an AUQ. Forgetting yours will likely be for a BAM engine. Thought ecp would have done ones for that though, strange.

Don't go near HAAS ones :p

I just hope it is coils, nothing wrong with it before hand.
If you haven't..do a good service,
Fuel filter, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, some good oil, new plugs and them coils. Shop around and get that lot for less than £200 and fit/do yourself.
Service now should be every 3-5k IMO with stage one. Good idea to keep an eye on oil/water levels every week, I do mine pretty much daily but I do drive mine pretty hard at every given opportunity, up on a ramp weekly too, better to be safe than dead.

Looks like it.

If you're not sure if it is the coils find out what cylinder the misfire is on, then move that coil to a different cylinder. If the misfire moves cylinder then its definitely the coil pack.

Saves buying and realising it's not the coil packs cause I don't know if ecp refund parts that have been installed.

You'll probably need access to some form of diagnostics to tell what cylinder the misfire is on though.

It was serviced (minor) aMd prior to map. So should be all good.

torque app is handy as this will show an error with missfire but it has to bring up the eml as I had a few misfires and it didn't show till I booted it hard and the coil failed completely. Once it failed the error followed 1/2/3/4 cylinder the coil was put in.

Should be. You can feel the fisfire and you get loads of noise and no pull from the engine. Flashing warning light as you describe.
I use the RAC then you literally pay about 35 quid for genuine VW parts and it's done for you. I would do it myself but two minutes bent over the car and I'm in silly amounts of pain. ( screwed back from carpentry )
