where abouts in glasgow are you based mate, im up there in a couple o weeks if you fancied meeting up, would be curious as to the results/meet new PD130 about the place.

Drivers yeah not too sure about them, dealt with them in the past well over a number of years with my dad and yeah great for nice shiny alloy wheels but dunno if I would fancy a remap there! Are all the revo remaps just done in a workshop then? I thought the revo stuff was done on the rollers or properly road tested to ensure it was right for that individual car?
Anyways I'm in the Clydebank area madmat if that means anything to you?

does this mean its the same map thats installed in your car even if yours is slightly different ie has a free flow filter and cupra ikntake and even a bigger exhaust? surely there must be some skill of the tuner to max the remap rather than just stick the same map on every car?
what do you think you'll *really* get if you tell someone you have a freeer flowing filter? are they gonna run more boost (no), more fuel (no). The ECU adapts & learns that you have the ability to flow more air, but nobody will actually 'do' anything because of the mods

but back in the day when this stuff was still relatively new I was involved with some work using the emerald ecu and software for highly tuned petrol cars. This system was custom mapping and was always done on the rollers and unique to each engine and took a bloody long time and someone fairly skilled to operate it!
So forgive me f I'm being thck here the whole idea of just flashing a new programme seems way too easy christ if thats case I'm computer literate does that mean if I get a hold of maps a laptop and software i can go into business?

So if the ecu is self learning (sounds like terminator!) does that mean I can whack in a green filter cupra intake a bigger intercooler and it will sort itself out and give more power?
Sorry if I'm making this all sound simplistic so am i right in saying any mods to the car make no dofference to a remap? If so why do certain companies offer custom remaps tailered to each car, not the generic engine is this just a rip off?

You won't get much if any power by adding a panel filter to a modern diesel. Did some logging a while ago with VAG-Com (MAF airflow, boost and torque) Standard vs Revo, with and without Green panel filter, and the panel filter made no noticeable difference on the plots. Going to do it again when the temps drop

We had a Fabia VRS (PD130) on the rollers yesterday with a Green Cotton and PD160 intake which made over 140.
As for mapping in Scotland there is a company called http://www.starperformance.co.uk/ who have a few happy friends on Briskoda. They have a +215hp Fabia.
