hi all

i am starting to look for mods for the car and come up with a bet off a problem i am not sure which to get a remap from rs tuning our a dtuk tuning box and s i dont no much about the tuning game can you please help me with what is the best and safe to get thanks jason:D

A remap. I had a tuning box before the remap and there is no competition. A tuning box just fools the ecu into thinking the diesel is hotter than it is, making the ecu think that the diesel is thinner and pumps more in to get any extra power.
A remap, as you probably know, reprograms the ecu, extra boost and various other things. A remap is a lot safer than fooling the ecu.

yer i sort off now what they do like so were would be the best place to go to get it all done down the south west

remaps are slowly coming down in price, so if you have the money, remap all the way.

however, tuning boxes are crude, but do work, and can be removed and sold after your car is long gone.

i guess its what kinda power increase you are looking for really. remap will always be smoother.

Unless you've got a CR engine, which by your pic it looks like your model is the pd engine same as mine, you won't have found a box that works 100% as the pd technology has been a nightmare for the companies to try and run a box with.

the DTUK boxes are dogs danglies of boxes, especially the common rail engine, i know Andrew who owns it and he is a great lad, he hasn't made a lot of money out of them without having a lot of happy customers......they used to run a facelift CR leon with the CRD-T and saw fantastic results of 210bhp and an increase of 4mpg also.

My money would be on a box, bhp increase, and mpg increase, and the box can be taken on and off as you please when it comes to servicing etc.
in 2 years, you'll have paid for the box with the money you'll save via fuel economy.....you wont get that with a map....

I have a box as well, more so for the ease of moving it. I had one on my PD and now on the CR fr.

THE MORE I THINK about this i quite fancy a DTUK box, partly because i can remove it as and when i want and partly because i may just change the family barge out for a cr170 tdi VAG estate car next. DTUK can make an interface loom to fit say an d audi A4 cr170 box to a leon so its pretty interchangeable in future.

if i did that then one box fits the next car too.

tempted! DTUK are looking like £339 all in delivered.

Exactly.....as long as you have the right loom, the boxes are interchangeable, if i'd known befor ei bought my pd engine one that he didn't have a box for it, i'd have waited and got a CR engine!!

£329 actually. If you type FACEBOOK as the discount code you get £60 OFF  I do wonder if there is another word that discounts even more

Tuning box and bluefin do pretty much the same thing but the blufin will probably be better.

will peeps from all your thoughts i think i would get a box as you rightly said as long as i have the right loom i can put it on any car which is very good and can take it off for servcing and stuff
