CUPRA SMURF

Guest
hi i have just bought a 03 leon cupra r with a remap to 265bhp which flies ans puts u back in the seat with loads of torque.
today when i went out all was normall later on in the day drove it and it feels if there is no turbo on the car and its like a normal 1.8 no pull at all can anyone shed any light on this .
you can hear the airy noise through the filter when u put your foot down but the noise then fades away as if its got no boost

its not misfiring at all just does not seem like turbo is coming in
if it is in limp mode where do i go from here

no warning lights on the dash? did this happen during driving or since switching on?

to find the cause of the limp you really need vagcom to read any faults stored on the ecu. car been ok lately?

i got no warning lights on the dash . i been driving the car since wed and its been fine and was fine this morning then went out in it again and no power

maf sensor doesnt bring up a fault code, maybe get someone near you off here with a LCR who is willing to let you try their maf in yours?

could it be anything like other people have like ecu code problem or wastegete problem etc

possibly but it could be anything. the fact that it ran well before suggests somethings just happened. so more likely a sensor maf related issue.

you could try disconnecting the battery for 20 mins (make sure you have the radio code) if its a small issue it might reset the ecu and clear it. see if the problem comes back.

you could unplug the maf sensor and see if the car runs better. youll get a light on the dash but if it runs much better unplugged it may need replacing.

it could also be your temp sender playing up.
as said you really need vagcom on it. try sticking up a thread in the vagcom help requests section and find someone local. otherwise is all guesses:)

i have unplugged the battery for a bit put it back on and it now seems fine took it out this morning and it pulls like a train very strange

sometimes if a senders on its way out it can be intermittant so although youve cleared it , it may come back.

if it does vagcom or dealer diagnostics is the only way to know.

glad its behaving:)

it was behaving untill i went out this evening it was fine half way through my journey then did the same again
going to get my rac mate to put his computer on it and see what i can find

After several weeks of 'linp mode' problems, I had my car mapped back to standard settings & the problem went away. I now run a different map (phase 2) and have not had a problem. I've not changed anything on my car since I had it from new (3 years / 32k miles), sensors, coils, MAF... it's all original, so I'm assuming it was a software problem. The guy who loaded the stock settings did a quick scan before hand and said it had been over boosting. Switch off & restart allows you to 'give it the beans' again, but it's only a matter of time until you're back in limp mode.
