After Owning a 1.9TDI Stylance Leon 105bhp @ 145bhp for 6 months I decided to buy another leon for the weekend this being a 2.0TFSI FR which seems not so popular. Any ideas on where to get it remapped and what sort of power would I expect from it. Sorry if this has been asked many times I can only find information about the 2.0TDI FR and the DPF removal etc.

Off topic but should I have got the 2.0TDI FR instead?

Nah, you should only consider the TDI if you do the miles to make it worthwhile. The TFSI FR is a great car, just not as powerful as a Cupra and with slightly lesser brakes. It is, however, a Golf GTI made by SEAT. The limiting factor is the Turbo as this is a ko3 and the Cupra has the bigger ko4. Don't be put off by the fact that there are not that many petrol FR owners here.

As far as mapping it goes, revo or apr will see you anywhere between 235 -250bhp and 250-270lbft, depending on condition and fuel used. R-tech is also highly regarded and do custom mapping to match the specifics of your car.

I'm planning (Well hope so anyway) to do about 5000 miles annually in the TFSI and using the 1.9TDI for daily commute if that makes sense. I did opt for the TFSI as I've heard nothing but injector problems and chocolate made turbos on the TDI FR and after mapping seem to give out down the line oh and also the DPF problem! The Golf GTI is too common and the Cupra Couldn't justify spending an extra £3000 for 40bhp. Oh and the fact there aren't many Petrol FR owners did have me a little worried about the support I would get if something does go wrong and this being my first Petrol car but knowing it's the same Block as the Golf GTI has assured me.

Thanks for the info I have about £1800 to spend on engine mods along with a remap what else can I do? Maybe swap turbo for K04? or remap + exhaust + other supporting mods.

Cheers

I have the tfsi fr have it mapped and have had it dyno'd at 247bhp. With the cash you have had would go for a better filter, sport cat and stage 2 map. Probably see 270 bhp with very nice torque figures with that. Could go full turbo back if you fancied it. I think k04 conversion is quite costly.

I have been looking at the s3 cooler myself but have read in so many places that unless that car it tracked in hot conditions there will be no gain.

Would love to have a definitive answer on the benefit from someone

You won't get gains just by fitting it you would have to have it mapped with it fitted to get gains.

What you will see with a well designed intercooler is colder air being delivered to the engine and less strain on the compressor side of the turbo which is very important in have a tuned engine optimized.

Thanks for your input guys and yes £1800 on engine mods alone! does seem silly but I really do like the Leons and want a Diesel for the weekdays my 1.9TDI Stylance ;) and something to put a smile on my face on the weekends. To be honest I cut £3000 from getting a Cupra and using that towards modding the FR, I was thinking £1800 on the engine and £1200 BTCC/Aero Kit.

I've ordered the following parts so far probably getting ahead of myself but oh well :D

Revo RACE Intake Induction Kit - £345
Milltek Turbo Back Exhaust, Non Resonated Cat Back & De-Cat- £860
AIRTEC Stage 2 Seat Leon FR 2.0 TFSi Uprated Intercooler- £490
Total Cost = £1695
Remap= Not done yet probably £500?

Probably Hold off on the BTCC Kit for Now as I didn't expect the engine mods to cost that much.

The forge cooler isn't brilliant.

If going stage 2+ the cooler worth it as when the summer comes you may struggle with heat soak, as mine did a little.

I've never had any issues with Shark maps & get pretty much what the quote if not more

Shark did have 25% discount but that finished before xmas. Very smooth probably smoother than stock but very linear. Also had map tweaked for precat being knocked out. Not sure on final power figures but the precat like a small dpf right after the turbo. If anything should keep egts down as gas flow bit better with it not being there. Cheap mod and stepping stone towards stage 2 without buying new dp.

Just an update got the car mapped stage 2+ with supporting mods it made 281bhp
Revo RACE Intake Induction Kit
Milltek Turbo Back Exhaust, Non Resonated Cat Back & De-Cat
AIRTEC Stage 2 Seat Leon FR 2.0 TFSi Uprated Intercooler
Uprated High Pressure Fuel Pump ( Apparently Needed this)

Does this seem okay? and I get no traction in the first two gears so need some tyres lol other than that car is very quick! I was told also to get passed 280bhp I would need to change the turbo So I think i'm pretty much maxed out on the K03.

K04 or a K03 hybrid if budget allows.... The engine won't cope with much more than 350hp safely so a mahooosive turbo is pointless
