I've got a recaro child seat and only had to move the headrest up slightly. Don't see why you would need to remove it completely.

Need to push catch in

In our old Ibiza the headrests come straight out with the button.
Difference with the Leon is that you then need to push the catch in through the little hole to get the headrests off.
A flat screwdriver or similar did the job.

I agree that you do need to remove the headrest with the booster seats with a back and headrest. Otherwise they don't sit properly.

Also removing the rear headrest improves visibility a little bit which seems to have got worse going from the Ibiza to the Leon.

^^^ this.

My 8 year old has the head rest on his booster seat pretty high and there's no way that I could do this with the rear seat headrests still in.

First thing I did was remove one. My 2 1/2 year olds car seat fits in the back ok but i removed the headrest to make it easier and also it does improve visibility as James A suggests.
