Does anyone have a guide or know the easiest way to remove the front seats? I'm wanting to take them out to give the car a good clean as I know there's a fair bit of crap that's fallen down the side of them over the years.

Any help appreciated.

Yeah its really easy, just 4 bolts if you don't have the under seat storage box. The runner aren't connected to each other so when you put them back in make sure they are lined up the same.

Keep in mind that if you have side airbags then there will probably be some underseat connectors to disconnect.

I don't have any experience of seat removal on the Leon but for other cars I've worked on, unplugging the underseat airbag connectors trips an open connection fault in the airbag ECU which illuminates the warning lamp and needs a diagnostic reset to clear it even after reconnecting the connectors. If you have VCDS then you will be covered but just bear this in mind.

As long as you don't turn the ignition on your fine. The air bag light will not come in as it can't find a open circuit if there no power. But yes there is the plug under the seat.

What difference will there be with the under seat storage compartments? Mine also has heated seats and the iPod dock under the drivers seat.

OK, sounds like this isn't a problem then with the Leon seats which is good to know. On my Alfa for instance, the airbag ECU stores enough power in the ECU circuit capacitors that it can cause the airbag ECU to detect an open circuit even with the ignition switched off. If that particular problem isn't an issue with the Leon then it's good news :)

If you pull the seat all the way forwards you should be able to acess the bolts and the push it all the way back for the front bolts. When you've done that just tilt the seat back and have a look they'll just be a few plugs to disconnect and job done.

It's not a problem at all,I did it with mine who I took out the seat to shampoo them and hover the car out.

Like you say, some cars are a bit funny with things like that.

Workshop manuall (on that link above) says "Connect the plug connector on the seat side -1- to the plug connector -5- of the Airbag Adapter -VAS 6235".

Is that really necessary? That is safety feature so that airbag wont explode to my eyes?

A good tip, lay the back seats down and lay some thick carpets or something like that on the back seats (everywhere it touches) and in the boot compartments and some over the boot opening. The front seats are MUCH easier to take out from the boot than the front and this way you are sure you don´t scratch anything (seen that a couple of times on here that people either scratch the interior, door cards or even worse, the sills)
