Are you talking about the sound-deadening thing or the actual bonnet ??

Struggling...

Am struggling to remove it (surprise, surprise...)

Where exactly is the rearward fixing point (rubber cone or wharever ?) the front seems free but centre / rear is stuck fast.

HELP !!??

Hi Mate, I have done a complete step by step guide to removing the engine cover, in word format and sent to another user on here. If you PM me you email address I can send it over to you as don't think I can insert here

Here is a picture from the guide, the blue 'x' mark roughly where the engine mounts are.

Be careful not to split the cover!

The numbers mark where there are screws / connection that need removing.

It basically a firm upwards movement towards the back!

I utterly failed !!!

I just couldn't budge it, I was frightened of snapping the cover...or the engine mounts !

I really hate to lose...:(

Take a look HERE mate. You will find it will come off easier while the engine is still warm after going for a drive. Don't be scared about breaking it as it is fairly robust. Just get a good grip right under the solid part of each corner and give it a good tug.

Hi Guys...

I managed it at last.

Many thanks to you all, - all good advice, i think getting engine warm was key factor, but what a tough one !

I used to "pull and wiggle" system.

Now I can get that nasty paper-type air filter changed. :)

I am having exactly the same problem, my brother and i both had a go and couldn't get it off. Fear of breakage went out the window and we both went all out at the same time with no luck.

I am going to try the warm engine, pull and wiggle technique tomorrow!!

My ITG induction kit has been sitting in the boot all weekend, boo!!

I know it's been said many times before, but you really do have to yank it hard. It took us (me and a mate) about 20 minutes of yanking and wiggling it before the front left mount finally gave up and popped off. Don't be scared about pulling too hard, it's pretty versatile.

Good luck! :D
