Replacing subwoofer

Been thinking of it for quite some time - ever since getting the car brand new I've been disappointed on the so-called subwoofer. Just a plastic bucket with a 5-inch (?) in it. Still don't wanna pay a lot, want to keep trunk space and easily be able to remove it.
Now looking for the Alpine SWE-815 active box. Thinking of just taking the speaker wires from the SEAT sub to the high level inputs of the Alpine amp. Also read somewhere that the Alpine has auto-power-on on the high level inputs so no need to take out the MIB-II head unit for remote lead.
Then will try with and without the SEAT sub.

Any suggestions? Where do I route the power cable from the battery, or should I connect it to the OEM fuse box? The power cable seems to be really thin. Thanks
:help:

I recommend you to do first software update on your MIB unit as there is manor bug on subwoofer volume and this has been fixed with new update.

What is the mib unit and how do I find out which software I'm ruining at present?

MIB is your head unit ( the bit you stare at and prod if you have the sat nav) software details are in there somewhere under system I think. Sorry can't be more specific, I'm not near the car atm

It seems to be a mishmash with versions on MIB-II HW and FW versions, but I think I have a pretty late version. It plays as good as it can being the cheap sh*t it is.

I've revised the idea above on the small Alpine box, will go for a bigger one.

Has anyone upgraded the stereo in a Leon MK3, any photos? Can you get RCA and remote from a MIB-II? How do you remove the MIB-II from the dashboard?

Our of curiosity...

I'm guessing the '6 speaker' 2 woofers (8") and 2 tweeters in front, and just 2 woofers (6.5") in rear doors. Headunit is basic one...4x15 watts?

8 speaker setup (Technology Pack or standard FR w/o Tech Pack) is 2 woofers (8") and 2 tweeters in front, and 2 woofers (6.5") back plus 2 tweeters. This needs at least the Media plus/Sat Nav. Power is 4x20 watts?

10 speaker setup, same as above but, rears are (8") woofers, + 1 centre (4") + 1 Sub.
Need Media Plus/Sat Nav. Power comes from amp in sub, and gives out 135 watts. 4x25w + 10w centre + 25 watt sub?

No external amp in Seat Sound.

Wow the Heat Unit itself can output 6 channels @ 135watts total?
More likely 4x15 or something like that..

I think the speakers combined w is 135... nothing said about the output.

The 8x speaker system uses them same speakers as SEAT Sound all around.
Seat Sound is just added sub and center
