Apologies on what appears to be a well discussed topic but I've finding it a tad confusing considering the variety of options. So any assistance would be very much appreciated;

So first what I'd like to accomplish..

I'd like to have Bluetooth and Sat Nav retro fitted to my Leon. It started with a desire to have just BT but I think Sat Nav would be worthwhile too. Obviously I could buy separate units but I want to keep it tidy and standard looking.

My car is a 09 Face lift Leon TDI FR with steering controls with the phone button.

I've read some posts and see some recommendations for the RNS units but again, I'm wondering how well this would fit my particular situation especially considering retro fitting the mic etc and also I don't want to be spending too much.

Your guidance and comments would be appreciated...

TIA.

Chris

I good starter for 10 would be to see what Connects2 adapters will give you in terms of functionality with your existing steering wheel controls and an aftermarket SatNav double-din unit.

I would think an OEM looking all-in-one unit would be far cheaper and easier to install than retro-fitting any of the original kit

Thanks for the reply, had a look at the Connects2 adaptor but there doesn't appear to be any mention of the phone capability that I can see.

Either a RNS 315 or 510 will be good for you. They both come with Bluetooth if I am not mistaken, and it will be easier for you to connect the mic for them since you don't have a Bluetooth unit in your car as standard (under the passenger seat).

The retro fit of the BT module is relatively simple as it should come with all the wiring looms, mic, and mounting pieces needed for locating the module under the right hand front seat. I retro fitted it to a 2008MY Octavia VRS. Have a look on Briskoda for guides by VRSSTU. He did mine in about 2 hours.

There is a fitting guide here. He also has some guides around part numbers etc on his website.

Hi mate!

If you were to go down this route and wanted to use OEM parts, I would strongly recommend the RNS315 for your needs. If you wished to add DVD capability to your setup then go for the RNS510.

RNS315 RNS510

Both units will be Plug&Play with your cars existing wiring harness and will just need activating through VCDS (Computer programme that many of us have).

You will also need a fascia adapter in the correct colour for your interior. Contact Dave in the SERE motors section on the main list. He is our resident SEAT Parts Dealer on the forum and always gives you the cheapest price.

Hope this helps!

Wow, thanks for the responses.. I'll check em out once I'm home. How much hassle is running the mic cable up the pillar etc?

Also, do the RNS require the OEM BT unit or do they include it in the unit themselves?

It appears that the RNS315 have BT while the RNS510 do not... strange...

Correct as far as I know for the 510 you would have to buy the BT module which will add to cost a few hundred.
