I won't get it below £475. £490 was with directline, but thats with 0 mods - and I obviously drive a modded car so I can't really go with them. My best bet at the moment is AF or Sky at the moment.

Gonna try NU now.

Oh I see! I was thinking that sounds pretty decent i.e now you tell me thats without mods! As I get similar quotes which at your low end on my totally unmodded car. It be good to have a with/without (mods) table :)

tried - Admiral were the only people they use that will quote for a modifed car. None of the others gave a quote. Admiral got me the £747 in the quotes above.

Still can't understand why all these quotes are MORE than what I paid last year - ok so theres a couple more mods but with ANOTHER years no claims i wouldnt have thought thered be an INCREASE... spose i could be wrong tho.

Pabs, i dont think anyone really knows how insurance companies get these figures, i insure a van and a car and every year it somehow creeps up, despite NOT making any claims. Its a farce!

impossible, even the dealer cant see it, it doesnt show on any diag equipment

the only way they could know is driving it, and if it was crashed it wouldnt be drivable anyway.

Believe me i know people in the business and these so called inspectors really dont have a clue.

Besides i have an sps3 if i was really that concerend id just flick it back to std :p

I can back CupraSteve on this (someone close to me working in the a major insurers body shop), crash assessors do not have any equipment, training or knowhow to do this.

I'm not saying don't declare it though but are you sure that its over 10%? Of course the Revo literature is going to give the very top figure. I did a rolling road before and after my Revo and it was a 7.8% increase. If anyone wants to use my figures in court to justify why they thought it was less than a 10% increase then PM me!

7.8%???

Std 180bhp
Your sig quotes 206bhp

Increase of 26bhp. I'm sure you can see that thats more than 7.8% - in fact its closer to double that - 14.4%......

I know you're gonna say your car wasn't 180 std and that it was more like 190 or something... but that'll be hard to prove too.

You're right, I'm going to say is was 191 to begin with.

Its not hard to prove, I have a rr figures before I got revo then one after, same place, same rolling road, same technition and almost same temperature/pressure. Courts know little about the dyno lottery, in my honest opinion I can hand on heart say that Revo gave me 7.8%. I did not lie on my insurance!

lol. I'll just tell my insurers that mines 210before and 220 after then - i'm sure i can knock up a dyno graph in word/excel, and then modify my after so its down on power a bit :)

Do you think you would get a discount on your insurance for modifications that reduced power? Someone could argue that they wanted the equipment spec of a Cupra R but not the power, so they had a remap that reduced the power to 180! Presumably you could not answer "no" to has your car been modified, so the premium would go up!

What happens if you have a boost controller put in, it could be calibrated to be below standard at its lowest setting. So when you crash all you have to do is turn it down to min! "Yes I'd like an insurance policy please for power gains of -20% to +20%"! LOL.

the big problem is the fact that if, god forbid, you are in a big accident which puts yourself in hospital, its not like you are gonna have chance to turn it down/off.

Anyway, nuff said really.... i've gotta ring AF tomorrow for a renewal quote as they STILL havent sent me one :(

Right... update on this.... heres the quotes I've now collated:

HIC Insurance = £1200+
Noek Dazely = NO QUOTE
Endsleigh = £1400
Liverpool Vic = WON'T INSURE MODIFIED CARS
Elephant = £775
Greenlight = £757
Directline = £493.00
Privilege = £504.00
Tesco = £552.00
Admiral = £747
Perf. Direct = £635.00
Sky Insurance = £641 inc. Business cover (3k miles)
AF Insurance = £545
AF Renewal = £655 + £300 for BC1 (WTF??? :censored:)

With regards to the last quote from AF - the renewal worked out at £655 + £300 for BC1, making a total of £955 all in. I told them about the Sky quote of £640 and they've come back to me this morning - BEATING Sky's quote by £6 - meaning they've dropped their quote by £325 total!!!!

Just goes to show what a load of BULL they tell you on the phone! :censored:

LOL, it seems just like a game as far as mods are concerned!
Did you manage a quote from NU?

Out of curiousity I tried a quote for myself with couple of mods, online only Diamond came out with £454 (that's an increase of over £120!) it also stated in event of claim mods would not be insured..so whats the point of declaring mods???
sorry, speaking as someone who currently has NO mods..but kinda curious to how much mods would set me back if I did decide to have them in future.

otherwise best quote so far for me this week is £323:p

NU wouldnt quote me either.. online system was down and on the phone told me mods = no no :(

Anyway, gonna go with either Sky or AF now... might see if Sky will give me a slightly better deal, if not then its AF for a little less :)

Thanks guys, elephant is nearly 1500 quid,and adrian flux wont cover revo cars now, they only cover modified cars that have a max modified bhp increase of 10%, at least thats what i was told on the phone today..

That guy from adrian flux is talking rubbish, i insured my LCR last month with adrian flux with Revo remap which is around a 30% power increase. He never mentioned the 10% power limit??

Plus i'm only paying £675 fully comp....protected no claims as well :lol:

Hey peeps... just a quick update here - Noel Dazely didnt give up - and have now come back with a quote - which is better than both my AF & Sky quotes, so I'll be going with them!!! Beat AF by over £40 too, which aint bad at all. Now with all business mileage covered for less than £600 - awesome :)
