well i've been procrastinating for too long, i've decided to get my car remapped at revo next week - i'm really rather excited although i appreciate that i will need to do just more than that! i've got my green panel filter waiting to go in - when the 160 intake arrives from seat ;)

my main concern is stopping (or lack of it), and i'm wondering what you guys out there have done for brakes - i'm aware of the 312mm conversion, but are there other alternatives?

i'm going to order a forge front strut brace tonight as that's only 60 quid and should tighten him up a bit - but will i also need to modify my suspension? that's a total dark area for me, i know little to nothing about suspension so give me a nudge in the right direction :)

i'm very excited at the prospect of the finished car but acknowledge it's gonna cost me about a grand all in ;)

IMHO the 312mm conversion is the best route - even with standard disks & pads it's a huge improvement over standard. And if you ever felt the need to improve further (unlikely) - you've still got scope to improve disks & pads.

they look pretty sweet, how much were they? the guy at the garage i'm going to seemed pretty adament that my car would actually fly - has yours been remapped?

the other thing i'm thinking is, with all that power and torque, surely i'll need bigger wheels??

Around £250 to buy/fit.

You don't have to have bigger wheels but they look better!

Mine has been mapped, finding out power tomorrow, rolling road day!

So, I cna improve my brakes by fitting these disks and keeping standartd calipers and pads? Thats sounds interstign as i have always thought eh brakes were a bit weak even on my standard. FR

i would like to know where they come from too. I assume they are easy to fit

That's the ones.

Although personally I'd rather use new discs & pads.

With regards to larger wheels, they're only a styling addition, not necessary because you've had a remap. If anything, larger diameter wheels will blunt your acceleration (I doubt you'd notice it on higher powered models, but those with 1.2/1.4s who went to 17s said it had a noticeable effect).

i have a full set of audi TT breaks cost me £300 as it was the Last set from golfturbo! and having thinking im not 100% sure im going to do this might just get better disks and pads when the time comes due to a max power of 150 bhp so i dont know yet if some1 wants to pay what i payed i might just let you have them!

It's quite possible to keep the standard setup and buy replacement discs/pads. Speak to Niall on here as that's what he's done and from the couple of times I went round the ring with him they were behaving rather well... Admittedly I don't think they were cheap though...

im sure the £300 ish quid would be more than enough to purchase some better disks and pads with! would look quite good havin drilled disks on a ibiza me thinks!

so it's possible to upgrade the discs + pads and keep the standard calipers etc? i assume the discs would have to be the same diameter - would the effect be enough??

while we're here i've noticed my brake fluid is about 1cm above the max line on the fluid - does that make too much difference?

it serves me right if it's buggered something i shouldn't have taken it over the road for a service :D

it is possible but at 170 bhp i would my self go with the TT set up just to make sure after all we are talking about what is going to stop you plaughing into the car in front without decent breaks power is nothink.... as my engine is little'er than yours i would go bigger on mine i dont see much point as i will have to spend another £200 for different hubs! so total £500 for bigger breaks!

165bhp and 295lb ft ad lav got yesterday on the rollers with his revo! all the diesel revo'd cars just about lived up to revo's bhp guestimates but the petrols were shocking imo but they are a good map for the pd130!
