Hello ALL! First post so bear with me, been searching for answers to no avail, I know alot of you have seen this all before, but hope, with all your expert knowledge, can give a Newbie a hand....
I have an Ibiza Cupra 2002 Plate and had a Revo Remap last year.
From the figures they quote, my car should be putting out around 206BHP, but I had it on the rolling road last week and its only putting out 185....
It had a new MAF about 2 months ago, everything on the car is pretty much standard except a custom made Stainless Backbox (with loads of baffle in to keep it quiet) and Forge Split-R in atmos/recirc mode.
The cars done 50k, no fault codes in VAG COM, I just cant understand it!
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance!!!

Added 11/5/09...
Sorry to be a pain, but could do with someones suggestions!
Took the car down to a different Dyno today (with a huge fan that nearly blew my legs from under me!), as i've had it serviced and bypassed the dump control valve.
Its given 182BHP at the fly @4224RPM and then really drops off, and compared to Revo's Graph on their website which shows peak power around 206BHP@5300rpm its peaking around 1000RPM lower. BUT its got all the Torque it should have 235lb ft@3432RPM, again with the peak torque around 1000RPM lower than it should be!

Its running exactly as it should up to 4200 RPM compared to Revo graph but then it seems like it runs out of puff and everything goes downhill.

I'm wandering if maybe its a boost leak at higher pressure?

On the other hand, do you think it could be the Bosch Super 4 Plugs that i have always had fitted in it?
Or the Splir R dump valve leaking pressure?
Its doing my head in, some suggestions please!

Only have Unregistered VAG com, and i'm not blaming Revo by the way.

To be honest Revo figures for stage 1 are always on the positive side. Get the poper mods on (fmic, tip, turbo back etc) and you'll be pushing a true 200bhp

on a K03 turbo, which i think you have, then 200 bhp is hard work. On a good day, not too hot, correct fuel, correct settings its possible. But not that repeatable due to the tiny intercooler on the ibiza.

But then there is also the questions over dyno lottery, (do it again i bet its different). Was it set up correctly with the correct loads, correct gear used, decent cooling fans? did the car sit for long before the run? (heat soak)

what fuel you using?
what settings do you have it on?
How many miles has it done? its not a new car and to loose 15 bhp, (id say more like 10 in reality) is not that bad.

what airflow are you getting on vagcom? max figure achived is what?

if its all standard apart from a stainles back box then your not going to be getting the full use out of the map...

As said above really fmic, filter, full exhaust (downpipe is very restrictive), tip. you should notice a nice gain over what you have now it will pull stronger...

as above or all down to dyno lottery.... you could put it on another roller and achive 195bhp ! different rollers different output claims..

Can we be the judge of it running right on vag com?

How do you know its running right? What rollers was it on? What fuel? Temps? etc...

I wouldnt get too hung up on figures.

Interesting choice of title for the thread.

Revo's product is tested and validated after many hours of R&D. MANY people run the software without issue.

Why do you assume it's the Revo code that is the problem? All to often people blame the remap as they can't believe their car or the rollers could possibly lie.

Cars although mass produced are not blueprinted. Some will be quicker than others and that's just an unfortunate fact (probably a +/-5% variance in power when standard). Also this can be affected by the way a car is run in, driven, adapted and maintained (then modded). With dodgy MAF's, weak coil packs, and general component wear in the mix your car could potentially drop another 5% performance between services as oil and filters get grotty.

Then their is the bag or worms that is rolling road. I hear more and more people say that they are choosing to give the rollers a wide berth due to dyno lotteries. If you want to see whether an upgrade has made a positive difference then its a useful tool. If you want to diagnose a fault under load then they are useful. However of late they seem to bring about more sleepless nights than glory stories for most of the modding community.

Problem is as you get used to your car it stops feeling fast. My car runs at over 300bhp, and it feels absolutely ordinary until I get in a 1.4 litre hire car and realise how quick it actually is.

As suggested, get your cooling sorted, and maybe speak to a specialist about any weak points in your upgrade path that can be easily fixed.

warren you have quite a few posts under your belt, yet I never see that many.

However when I do, they're usually quite sharp.

good post mate

Front mount and filter on the way then! Any recommendations? Had a K+N ind kit on it for a while but was rubbish when it got hot.

Thanks for the replies anyways, I know rollers are all different and there are so many variables that affect how it goes but seriously, the car seems sooooo much more than an extra 30BHP from standard, im happy with the result, definately worth the money and the easiest way of gettin extra power.
Just wandererd what everone elses experiences were with Revo on a standard car and if I was expecting too much thats all.

Another thing I wanted to ask, does anyone know, when the little old man pretends he knows how to use a laptop when he Remaps the car, he has to set the timing etc doesn't he? He set all mine to 5, bang in the middle.
Well when I use the SPS 2 to change the type of fuel, does it actually change these settings, or are these fixed and it changes something else? As it pulls so much harder with 95RON in the tank but set to 98RON on the SPS! Feels rubbish with the same fuel and setting.
BUT WHAT A CAR!
Cheers Guys!

peolpe on here like the green dynatwist induction kit or the large jetex one there the ones to look at also k&n use oil on there filter and its not good for a car with air mass sensor as it can cause the sensor to pack up cause of the oil ...:)

I heard the oil thing with the K&N, but it was more of a heat issue why I removed it. Heard somethin about having the filter in the wheelarch as its cooler, this a big job?

Your going to either have to get yourself a full copy of vagcom or find sombody with it and get your car logged.

Im not to clued up about the Split R as they dont tickle my pickle but i have heard if not setup correct they can cause leaks and lead to problems..

Do you have a boost gauge?

Nope, no boost gauge, its on the to do list but spare cash is hard to come by at the moment. Can it be found in VAG com if I get a full copy?
Maf can't be logged in vag scope can it on the unregistered version? Will only be able to read the tickover MAF value won't I?
:(
