I have purchased and fitted a RNS 315 and all was well until this evening when I went to use the car and it has a completely flat battery. What can I do to solve the issue?

I have seen NEW replacement CAN units on eBay but where is the CAN on a 2004 Altea?

Can is behind the glovebox. I did this in the last month as I bought a chinese stereo and had the same issue. You can buy a can from a member of a GTI forum that supplies and codes it for £50. I had a member recommend them to me and I used them no problems! So far so good but have been driving the car regularly since.

Thanks I will look behind the glovebox in the morning.

How would I go about buying the CAN from the person you suggest?

Have removed CAN and ordered a replacement so just have to wait for delivery then code new CAN and should be all back to normal!

Thanks SeatJay for info on where to find the CAN it was where you said and so easy to remove :)

Coding HELP!

I have now received the new CAN and have fitted it, but not sure on the correct coding?

I have selected the items installed and clicked the checkbox's but it still comes up with an error and says unit not correctly coded.

What should I enter to code it correctly? Or is there anyone in or near Oxford that can do it for me?

I had mine done by a someone that supplied and coded the can. When I looked online there were videos showing how and most suggested noting exactly what you had on there and replicating. Did you update it to include the new 315 unit?

Put the old CAN gateway back in and make a note of all the components ticked in the "Gateway Installation List". Then fit the new CAN gateway and replicate those options.

I have done that and everything on installation list is there as it should be, but I still have an error saying 01044 - Control Module Incorrectly Coded

Any ideas anyone?
