Running water inside the doors!

Hi CandyWight,

Is your car parked uphill or downhill on the slope?

I've not noticed this on my 5 door which is parked uphill.

If the car is on a slope it's possible that water collects at the front or rear of the door, between the door edge and the drain hole. When you then open the door wide, or drive off, the door will then be more horizontal and the water will run out of the drain hole. Is this possible do you think?

When I lift the tailgate on mine some water runs out, but then it does this on our 2002 Honda Civic too!

Mine does it if i park facing down hill. ( 3 dr )

The front corner of the door must fill up because there is no drain hole at the corner.

When you open the door all the water runs out.

Thanks, my car is usually parked very slightly down hill or a lot downhill nose first depending on whether I am at the front r back on the drive. That makes sense as it runs out when I open the door. Seems odd that it's the only car I have ever had do it though, and I have had plenty of them! How does the water get in though? Think I will mention it to the dealer when she goes in to have the 12v socket replaced.

I've always imagined that it gets in between the window and the door due to the seal being imperfect. This will also happen if you wind down a wet window I imagine.

In the olden days (and I'm probably older than most here!) there was no rubber seal between the bottom of the window and the door. Nowadays there is but it won't be perfect. In your case I suppose it's possible that the sealing is not as good as it could be. I'd let them take a look at it if it's going in anyway.

Why mention it when everybody else's on here does the same?

Its a design they put in and it just runs down the windows, if you think about the rain water running down the window you'll figure how it gets in there, as long as no water is coming INTO the car there should be problem.

CandyWight, did you get anywhere with this issue? I am looking after my daughter's late 2009 3 door Ibiza and this worries me a bit as quite a bit of water builds up in either door if the car is left for a while and it has rained, like others, the car is parked slightly nose down.
