This can be a touchy subject some poeple say run it in 100miles below 2000rpm the build it up to 3000 for the rest of the 500miles then oil filter change and run like normal. But on a race engine I can be run in hard. Just depends on what the builder suggests in my opinion. I did gental run in.
But I replaced pistons and rings ect.
Might be wrong but does an engine even need running in if the piston rings haven't been changed. Ie just done rods.

run it in as smooth as possible, never over rev/labour the engine!

500miles under 2k then oil change
1000 miles under 3k oil change,
1000-2000 gradually build to 4k and oil change!!
thats just me tho!

Thanks for the feedback guys

Ive heard mixed view's on this also

fourtwofive ive changed piston rings but not rods

Ive been told to run it on millers oil for the 1st 500 miles changing at 2k

Change the oil for 5/30 fully syn then hammer it BUT i will be taking it easy until i do 1000k i think.

I have a couple motorway journeys to do with the 1st 500miles

Would it be a good thing to stay under a certain mph or it dont matter aslong as i change at 2k

Sure I read in bills bit that you have to run it in as you would drive it, loading both sides of the piston both power and overrun, need to hunt, or maybe the man himself will comment
