Hi everyone.

I have got a few concerns after having a sachs performance clutch fitted along with a sachs smf, my car is running stage 2 and it killed the original clutch.

since having it fitted yesterday at a garage I trust I have found that the biting point is really high and it is quite difficult to pull away without looking like a learner driver kangarooing down the road, but even more concerning is the clutch smells burnt when doing hill starts. I aint abusing it just trying to drive normally. this clutch cost ***t loads and I don't like the thought of it frying its self.

I have spoke to the garage and they said it may need running in but I have done 150 miles on various roads and it still smells and bites to high.

any thought to whether this is normal or have I got a problem coming my way. any one with the same set up experienced any issues. cheers for help guys and girls.

Are the Sachs SMFs thinner than the OE DMFs? That would explain the higher bite as the friction plate needs to travel a little further before contacting the flywheel.

As for the kangarooing, are you sure you have a driving license? :p I kid, it could be a different compound on the mating face to an OE clutch and requires a more assertive lift from the pedal.

I'm not familiar with the the Sachs performance stuff (I have a Sachs clutch kit and DMF, but they are OE) but just a couple of ideas for you to consider. I hope it's nothing bad though!

I have got a Australian license :D it can be embarrassing at times, bloody thing is like a on off switch with naff all in between. I aint sure if the flywheels are different thickness, maybe someone on here will tell me. have a good christmas:p:p

There are plenty of blokes on here who can give you a more concise answer.

Happy Christmas to you too, Bruce!
