Safe to clear airbag light?

Hi all!
I've got an airbag light on (LCR 225). I know it's the passenger side sensor related. Door leaks have been fixed and all is dry now. I've cleaned sensor connections (Battery off) and am wanting to determine if a replacement is necessary. I have a cheap cable and VCDS lite so I can read some code info and clear them myself but on doing some research I found that '01218' carries a warning on the Ross-Tech website about possibly detonating airbags when clearing codes.
I'm just wondering if in the vast experience of you all if that's ever happened? I can't read the full code description but it has a suffix of 32-10 if that means anything? Obviously not asking anyone to take responsibility for my choices. If there's any real risk I'll let the garage handle it.
Many thanks in advance.

Yep, the risk is only there if you try to clear the code when you still have the fault present.

Like Thai said, if you replace the sensor, then clear the codes, it'll be fine.

Yesterday I had a airbag light on and I knew that was the airbag strip inside the steering wheel. I've tried to clear the code with VCDS and the light stayed on but no airbag blow on my face. :)
Today I managed to get a genuine piece and changed it. Clear the code and voilá! Everything like new.
