Hi all,

Unfortunately I managed to scrape and damage the plastic trim on the door and a little on the arch. Wondering if I can get some help on the following:

- Where would be best to source a replacement part? I found some on eBay, but not sure where else I should maybe be looking.
- How are these trim pieces installed? Is it something I could do myself?

Attached some pics of the damage too.

Thank you!

I think first try to clean it. Then see if those scratches are on top of the paint maybe buff it out. Would not completely make them disappear but would look better.
Or maybe those guys who repair chips and repair small patches might be able to do the job. Would be more of a small paint job rather than replacing the trims.

If you run a fingernail across the scratches and it catches, then unfortunately it won’t be possible to polish them out with a machine polisher which also means they won’t polish out by hand. It should be possible to improve the appearance of them though.

I’d personally go for a SMART repair. I had some damage to the front bumper on a VW Golf I owned some years ago SMART repaired. I used a small local (to me) independent company that specialised in interior and exterior SMART repairs rather than one of the large Chips Away franchise type set ups. They were premises-based rather than a mobile set up so they did their work in a temperature controlled environment rather than on your driveway which probably results in a better repair. They did an excellent job; great paint colour match and finish and the price was very reasonable at the time - significantly cheaper than a replacement bumper or an all singing, all dancing body shop.
