Hey there,

I didn't know that silver attracted so much scratches, its unbelievable !

Can anyone reccomend some deicent scratch removers as i have tried:

  • Carplan T-Cut Scratch Remover for metalic paint

and that was no good if anything it made it worse.

Btw the car colour is silver (luna Gray)

Meguires scratch X 2.0 is ment to be good although I tried it on my old black Clio 197 but didn't see very good results! But as I say it was supposed to be good

ah yeah,

I've read some reviews on the halfords website about Meguires scratch X 2.0,

everyone there says its good but they mentioned that you have to buy the other 2 Meguires bottles i'm guessing one is polish and the other is some kind of gloss.

anyway they said you had to purchase them to get any results.

but yeah, any other recommendations or is that ment to be the best on the market ?

thanks

Hi

only question is how do You want to remove this scratches by hand or machine ??

if you want to give try to rotary I will go for 3M set of compounds fast cut then extra fine and on top of that ultrafina but be carefull when use rotary just give try on some panels before You go on full car

if You want to get this doen by hand try Gtechniq http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_u-QTCbOUW4&feature=player_embedded

I have used scratch x 2.0 for a few scratches on my Cupra and it does wonders. I didnt use any of the other products just the scratch X and it was sufficient.

by hand as machine would cost loads wont it ?

plus the scratches are on nearly every pannel !
it looks like a cat has been using my car as a scratch post :O

i went to halfords today and there wernt any Meguires scratch X 2.0 there :(
so got some turtle wax scratch remover kit, so far it has dont nothing to them. will have a propper go at it tomorrow

I wont advise scratch X if its the entire car. Helps with a few scratches here and there but I dont think it will useful on the entire car.
Best advise is then to have the car detailed. I will PM you a website of some local guys in SA to give you an idea of can be done. maybe that can help as I am not allowed to post links on the forum as yet.

the finish looks just like showroom finish :)

what products would you reccomend for this then ?

i currently use:

Autoglym shampoo

Autoglym super resin polish

Autoglym Aua wax

are these still good enough for the job ?

I have used Meguiars Scratch X for about 5 years now and its a great product. I also find that a clay bar kit also seems to remove scratches quite well as long as they are not deep scratches.

I went to halfords today and they did not have any Meguiars Scratch X left in stock.

so going to get some online this product seems the best and cheapest option :)

thanks guys

exactly this is how it works filling the scratches not removing them if You want permanent result You need some fine polish just depends how deep are scratches

Scratch x does not contain any fillers.

If used properly will remove your scratches, and is generally pretty good at it.

If after washing you have scratches it might be your wash technique introducing scratches.
