Bit of a weird one this but someone might know.

I've got a 17 plate 300 ST with the bucket seats, all good. 95% of the time it's me in the car ion my own. As a result the driver's seat gets a lot more use than any other. I'm pretty pleased with how well it's doing, however, I'm wondering whether it would be possible to swap the seat bases between the passenger and driver's side to even out wear. Obviously you can't just unbolt the seats and swap them as controls, air bags etc will be on the wrong side so I'm wondering if it's possible to swap the seat base (the bit your arse is on!) as other than the heating pad there's nothing else in that that could cause an issue.

I've got another car with Recaro Sportsters (same seats you get in Clio Sports etc) and you can do it easily with those so wondering if the same is possible without too much faff with the SEAT buckets.

I've seen someone on facebook who has retrimmed the whole seats for £500-£600 to replace the fake White/Carbon effect edging on the Buckets.

However he'd also done some repair work using manufacturers original materials.

Maybe better to get someone professional to do it if no one can answer your question :)

I have bucket seats too on my 300 and like yourself majority of the time it is just me in the car the side bolsters on the driver side have recently started making creaking noises took it to dealer classed it as general wear and tear but did put some sort of foam adhesive to stop in happening. The thought of swapping the base over never actually crossed my mind but something i may consider in the future.

Interesting. As well as a suspension creak (seems everyone has this , and dealer been useless at sorting), my drivers seat creaks as well.
So interested in what you did - do you mean the dealer did the foam adhesive thing, or you did? (couldn't tell from your post whether the dealer told you to f#*k off it's wear and tear, so you did it yourself?). When even is foam adhesive and what did you/ they do with it??

Took it to the dealer because it was under warranty he goes as car is over 6k mileage and 6 months in age it was would be classed as normal wear and tear but apparently there was a bulletin on creaking seats and the fix was to apply some adhesive foam at the side of the bolster where it touches the plastic to prevent any further creaking. The dealer applied this fix I will be honest it has made no difference but i am booked in next week for another issue so may raise it with them again not holding my breath though!

Based on this, I fixed my creaky seat! (albeit not the most elegant solution...)

I took some scraps of paper that were in the car, and a couple of parking tickets, and stuffed them in-between the bolster and the plastic. Hey presto, no more creaks!! But it looks a bit sh1t, with paper sticking out of the gap!!!

I had the same problem. Fixed by sticking a piece of adhesive backed felt to the side of the bolster where it comes into contact with the plastic part of the base. The felt is black so doesn't stand out and I just wide enough to cover where the two rub together.

Does your still creak or do you reckon it’s been fixed?

In my case it fixed it. I tucked a microfibre in there first, I finessed this with the adhesive felt.
There still seems to be a gap with mine which is why the creaking is still occurring I will see how it goes at the dealers next week if there is no solution might try the microfibre option I assume you are referring to microfibre cloth/towel?

The gap closes up when you sit in the seat. Then the two surfaces rub together causing a squeak/creak. Yes I used a thin microfiber cloth first.

I'm wondering whether it would be possible to swap the seat bases between the passenger and driver's side to even out wear.

If this is physically possible, it's quite a good idea! I think the only thing that would scupper it would be if the left and right seat parts were different in some way.

Yeah, it was a thought that just popped into my head. Ideally I'd want to do the backrest too but as that has more stuff in it with the airbag that's probably best left alone. Not looked any more into it yet but I need to talk to a trimer about another car soon so will speak to them about it then.

No airbags on the outer sides of these front seats, if so that would stop you swopping sides.
