can anyone help me with this i know there are many threads about this but im talking specifically about my car - i have a registered copy of vcds and have succesfully turned down egr and turned on auto lock and unlock and turned on alarm beeps problem is ....

when i turn on alarm beeps nothing happens (same as before) and then on another chanel there is an option to change the horn rest of europe was default then germany and UK ? does this have any relevance ? cant get my car to beep ? is it possible on my car ?

also can someone explain how to turn off the selective locking at the moment default is 2 unlock presses for all doors just want it so 1 button unlocks all doors ?

and is gauge/needle sweep possible on my car ??

Many thanks :)

Sounds possibly like your alarm horn doesn't or isn't working / or the settings haven't saved. To test if it's the alarm beep, open the door with the key (not remote) and open the door, wait 5 seconds then the alarm should sound. Press unlock on the remote to shut up or place the key in the ignition and turn on.

Needle sweep isn't possible for the MK4.

To disable Auto Locks...

Turn on ignition, start up VAG-COM...

Go to "Select control module" from the main menu.
Select "46 - Central conv."
Click on "Adaption - 10"
Press "Up" next to channel number and watch for "Auto Lock" at the top.
When found Auto Lock, set "New Value" to '0' from '1' click "Test" then "Save"
Press "Up" next to channel number and watch for "Auto Unlock" at the top.
When found Auto Unlock, set "New Value" to '0' from '1' click "Test" then "Save"
Then click "Done, Go Back"

Remove key from ignition then the next time you start up those annoying locks won't bother you.

To disable Selective Unlocking...

Turn on ignition, start up VAG-COM...

Go to "Select control module" from the main menu.
Select "46 - Central conv."
Click on "Recode - 07"
The number in at present will be a even number, add one to that number to make it an odd number then click "Do It".
Remove keys from ignition and lock the car - the next time you go to unlock pressing the unlock button will unlock everything.

Could see if it connected behind the passenger side bumper / wheel arch area. Another way to check the alarm is to lock the doors with the remote whilst you're inside, and move around. If this still doesn't work then I think that your alarm horn (behind the bumper and wheel arch on the passenger side) is broken or simply unplugged.

from what i can tell all central locking is working i have turned on auto lock and auto unlock as this was off by default and i wanted it on (anti hijacking) i have also change the figure in selective locking to an odd number and it worked a treat ! 1 press of the unlock now unlocks all doors i also wanted this as i almost always have a passenger and is more convenient so thats great ! thanks for that advice the only problem i have now is after activating lock beep and unlock beep (off by default) im still not getting any sound/ a beep/horn ?

Your car doesn't have an alarm at all then I'm afraid so the chirp function can't be activated on your car :(

I changed the selective unlocking option the week I had the car as it was so annoying! Glad it's worked for you too.

Probably because it's not an LCD screen ;)

It just holds more warning lights like this:
