Hi there I am just wondering if anyone here with the 1.6tdi engine with the dpf have had it took off and remapped and is it worth having done. Because I don't do a great deal of miles 10/15 a day and I find the performance not great one day it feels good the next rubbish and I get the dpf light come on once sometimes twice a month and I take it for a good run and it goes off. So my Question is should I have it done and will i tell a great difference example mpg Acceleration ?? And will it pass a MOT ?

Hi , i have now removed dpf and mapped a few of these for local taxi companys .I can honestly say the difference in performance is quite amazing .You may think i am touting for business but being at the opposite end of britain from you thats not the case lol. The difference is the mid range torque increase which is the most important rev range in a road car . The reason you feel the car run differently is most probably failed regens due to the short mileages . A quick diagnostic would show the failed regen count and also soot loading . Generally what i find with these is if the soot loading is above 75% then removal or replacement is inevitable . I also advise customers who enquire about removal that if their driving style is suited to keeping the dpf healthy then do not remove it as given the right conditions they can last the life of the engine . Final point on Mot legislation , vosa have basically tried to scare people into not having it done , the reason for this is diesels are only required to pass a smoke test , their is no way they can enforce it as they dont and indeed cant test for particulate matter , this would cost millions to upgrade every test station in britain .So for that reason a car will NOT fail an emissions test due to DPF removal. The only reason for failure is physical removal or tampering with the dpf itself so as long as the removal is done properly then there is no issue .Hope this helps

AFTERNOON, i had this done to the mrs ibiza 1.6tdi 105 about a month or so ago now, dpf delete and remapped, drives better, performance isnt amazing in difference but a good 20-25 increase over standard and obviously no more dpf issues, id also say its better on fuel now too which is a bonus,

Ok thx for reply I don't get the dpf light come on much it's just the lag it's slow at times and other times it's sweet once/twice a month I get the light come on just don't know to have it done or not ?? Is it worth it ??

Depends how much it's going to cost you, the light on other half ibiza was on pretty much once a week, so at some point it was guna need a new dpf, plus I'm in the car trade so I got it done cheap, it does drive much better and is quicker than std, mate

Unfortunately your car will fail it's mot if the dpf filter has been removed! It's something they actively looking for now!! :(

No it won't , my car has the dpf fitted, just nothing inside it

sorry mikeym , absolutely not true , the dpf innards are removed leaving the proper box in place and untouched , this is a story sweeping the internet forums designed to scare people into not removing them , during the mot the only check is a visual inspection which the car will pass no problem . There is NO physical way for a tester to check inside a dpf and NO emissions test can pick it up either . I have removed well over 100 dpf's in various vehicles and not 1 has failed mot .

Ahh really, I never knew that, thanks for clearing that up for me :) I guess you shouldn't always believe what you read lol! My friend had an ibiza 1.6 tdi cr and the dpf was constantly a problem!
