Seat Ibiza sc 1.4 85bhp tweakable?

Hello again everyone,

I finally bought a Seat Ibiza Sc 1.4 sport and I'm really happy so thanks to everyone that helped be with the decision.

The only thing I'm a bit disappointed about is the performance. Infact I'd like to have, a bit more power from my Sc, especially when I drive on the motorway.

I know that bh are never enough but I don't mind the top speed, I'd just like to reach it quicker because sometimes the car sounds like... "still"

I'm not an expert and I don't want to add any big changes on it, just a bit more horses :p

Is it possible to tweak just the chip of the ecu in order to have a bit more power without risking the engine? How much is the price and what about the first service I'll have in 8 months?:)

Now my fuel economy has got a good score: 38mpg easly. Tweaking the ecu will increase the fuel consumtion?

Thanks a lot in advance and sorry for the newbie questions

Hi there, i wouldn't have thought tweaking would make much difference at all on the 1.2, 1.4 or 1.6. Diesels may get a bit more, petrols wouldn't really benefit with performance vs cost !

As yours is a 1.4 and has no turbo you will only get a hanfull of horses extra. the price is going to be about £300 I would guess.

You should have bought a turbo diesel, that way it would be quicker and more MPG to start with and then a remap would give an extra 30 or so horses.

The diesel is not necessarily quicker!. Infact in the glossy mk5 brochure i have, the 1.9 diesel (105bhp) is 0.1sec slower to 62mph than the 1.6 petrol (105bhp). The diesel may be better on fuel, but the car itself is around £600 more to buy (new), and diesel costs are more than petrol at the moment (around 10p more / litre up here). You have to weigh it all up for your needs, if you do high mileage then diesel is better. I weighed it all up when i bought mine and it would have taken 2.5 years in my case, for diesel to surpass petrol. It's simply a matter of personal taste and usage.

Regards,
Andy

In Greece ya can order a 100bhp version of the 1.4 and a 120bhp version of the 1.6.
Is this not just a remap.

Michael Sc has a up to over 100bhp, check the mods he's done.. he has a readers rides somewhere, or theres the what mods thread in this forum. thinking about he he has a custom manifold and exhaust + intake .. probably not onthe cheap side of things click here

tweaking the ecu normally gives slightly better fuel consumption on turbo diesels.

Andy, that .1 second is probably down to weight alone, the diesel has .3l more capacity so must be bigger in some way to refelct this, making it a tad heavier. not to mention the turbo that the petrol hasn't got. Diesels aren't quicker but when it comes to a remap they give better gains.
