Firsty introducing myself. Hello :D

This is my first seat, got a white seat ibiza sport, tinted windows and black alloys. Yay. Very nice car however i'vve had one problem so far and the seat garage i went to on the weekend didnt help me whatsoever and basically told me what i knew anyway.

Heres the problem;

I had the iPod connection factory fitted and went to pick up the cup a few weeks back. I started to notice that when i played my music the singing was really muffled. Although i mostly listen to heavy metal sort of music this shouldnt be the problem and tryed other random genres i had. Sat in the car for a good amount of time fiddling with settings, no difference.

My ipod is fine when i play it anywhere else and through headphones.
The seat garage literally told me it was the type of music i listen to and just need to change the settings everytime its a different genre. As you can imagine this got me pretty annoyed :censored: and even after the guy did that, it made NO difference at all. So just turned the ipod back off when i got into the car for my journey home

So the point in this is, has anyone else had the same problem?

The garage didnt try my ipod in other car however and offered no replacement which is what i may ask for if nothing comes of this thread.
Thanks for reading though!

Edit: If anyone is wondering, i went to Pinchbecks seat dealer.

Yep thats correct.
Everything is plugged in correctly, but the guy didnt seem to check anything else from what i saw.

Its just the singing which isnt coming through. So im not sure if it is a problem with the cradle itself.

If the ipod works with headphones, the issue doesn't lie at the ipod side of things.

get a 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo cable (has a headphone jack on each end) (couple of quid from maplin, or insist that the dealership provide one for diagnostics), plug one end into the ipod, the other into the 3.5mm aux in socket in the car.

If it works properly then the issue lies with the ipod cradle system, get that replaced under warranty.

If it desn't, then theres a fault with either the socket itself or the cabling between the socket and the headunit, or the headunit itself (unlikely if it only sounds crap with the ipod) eitehr way, it's a warranty issue and they must sort it.

Right i'll try that out then, many thanks for the reply.
I got very annoyed with the guy who seemed pretty useless to be honest especially after telling him the problem he replies with ''Hmmm. I dont know alot about these iPod things''
Good one mate!

Thanks for the help though :)

nearly, that's a mono lead, one of these will be better

1.5m is enough to route the cable from the aux socket to the glovebox and leave enough slack for you to retrieve the ipod form the glovebox and control it from the drivers eat without too much effort,

Remember to make sure it's a stereo lead not a mono lead
a stereo one will have 2 black (usually, could be other colours though) bands around the pointy bit, a mono lead will only have 1 band.

Hmmm have u turned ur audio volume on on iTunes to all ur music 100% because basically if u turn that u and play it throought the car audio you get this crappy sound out of it turn it to normal volume. It maybe could be the quality of the music...

The iPod itself is fine and had no trouble playing through my sony cd player with bluetooth/aux/ipod connection in my previous Peugeot 106 car.

I think i've pretty much tried all different settings on both the ipod and car and changing the volume. All the music on it is perfect quality as its all been bought from iTunes store or imported from a cd, nothing downloaded off anything like limewire for example.

Nooo go to iTunes and righ click one of ur songs go to get info. Click one of tabs says options and find adjust volume.

I can't see how that'll make any difference tbh, if it sounds alright as it is through the hifi and headphones then the iPod isn't the issue.

Thats what i've been told by other people, however if what you suggested with the cable doesnt work im getting in contact with the dealer again and ask to try another cradle. cause driving down to cornwall at the end of may wont be fun if i have to listen to the radio for ages and taking cds :(

^ Yeah, good point, i've presumed you've tried it with the EQ on the ipod turned off and all the balance fade bass mid and hi controls on the headunit set to 0.

yep done all that, i've literally done everything possible that i know both on the iPod settings included EQ and the settings in the car. I'm stuck

hmm... really is a bit of a pickle :( i'd take it back to seat and test it in another car this will eliminate one of the results anyway

1. Ipod is bad as music sounds the same
2. stereo is bad as music sounds better :D

then if it is option 2 they should have to replace it under warranty
