Seat Ibiza Sport Auto lock only working part of the time?

I have a Seat I iza Sport 84 (59 plate).

I'm a nightmare for remembering to lock my car🤦🏻‍♀️ however.. sometimes it will automatically lock, just not when I need it to. Is there a way I can get my car to auto lock all of the time?

Thank you!

The ibiza's have a feature (I believe it is enabled by default) that when you unlock the car but do not open any doors or the boot then it will re-lock after 30 seconds. You can also enable auto-lock whilst driving over 10 mph however I don't believe there is a way to auto lock when you leave the car (probably to stop people locking their keys in the car).

One thing that helps me know I locked it is enabling the car to beep (using Carista OBD2 device) when I lock the car so I know to listen for the beep.

Yes, I agree on all counts above, all VW Group cars since at least 2000MY have had that "re-lock" feature.

As for "auto locking when leaving the vehicle" - I'd seriously doubt if that was ever a feature for the reason given above, you really do need to wake up and accept the responsibility for securing your property - hopefully you can handle locking your house doors when leaving to go away, so just apply the same common sense to your car.

If your car is genuinely locking itself sometimes when you leave it, there are only 2 possibilities, first you are accidently crushing the remote fob section of the key, or secondly, your car has a fault.

I don't know if this falls under the "auto lock" but if I have just a passenger door or the boot open and then press the lock button, the car will lock once I close these however it won't if it is the drivers door (only have a 3 door so can't tell if the 5 door is different).

That is normal I'd say, the 5 door will work like that if the rear doors are open as well.

Edit:- I tend to work like that, but really really really make sure that the car key is in my packet before I close the hatch - though normally my wife will be with me and so has her own key.
