Seat iPod cable

I was looking on ebay and came across a VW equivalent to the Seat (expensive) Ipod Cable.

and was just wondering if this would work with the standard head-units with the CUP option ?

I don't think the VW one will work as its designed to be used with the MDI socket, whereas the Ibiza has a USB and AUX socket instead. Some members have reported success using the BMW iPod cable, but as my car doesn't have CUP I haven't used it.

Aye that lead only works on cars with the MDI port. BMW cable will work for sure!

There seem to be identical items available from others in UK for about £20. I paid about that sum too. It does the job. The SEAT item has a holder for the iPod/iPhone which might account for the higher price. Saves having the item flopping around in the cup holder - but you could easily sort out some foam!

You need to be careful with these leads though, some leads on eBay have a 30pin iPod connector on one end with an aux and USB at the other end, this in theory seems fine, but they will not work.

The BMW lead has a little chunky box in the middle of the lead, this contains the necessary electronic wizardry that makes the iPod work with the head unit. The first lead I boug

So just make sure it's for a BMW/Mini or a SEAT as both these cars require the little box, as part of the lead. Hope I haven't confused anyone.

I bought the above mentioned one from HK, took 5 days to arrive and worked like a charm.

yeh the bmw cable works, mine sometimes stops working for a second, but just reconnect it, think its my ipods connection ruined though as the aux on my ipod is broken too haha
